When this private property wedding in Warrnambool landed in our inbox, we knew straightaway it was going to be a good time. This is how Bernadette and Troy’s’s uber-talented photographer Sheree Dubois introduced this lovefest to us: “There was an epic dance walk from one paddock to another, led by the celebrant playing the saxophone accompanied by giant speakers! A mass dance walk to top all dance walks. Upon reaching the second paddock, guests were invited to enter the marquee only via their best dance moves. Vibes were high. Dumplings, Park and Pour , mum’s lamingtons in ice-cream tubs (bless), a curved marquee and some serious dress sleeves. Deadset legends.”
YES to all of the above! Enough said, get into guys.
THE VENUE “I had always wanted to have my wedding at my parents farm… We love the feeling of being in nature, feeling your nervous system slow down and the deep breaths of fresh air. That’s the feeling we wanted to feel on our wedding day. I love to spend time in the garden so getting mum and dads garden ready didn’t feel like hard work to me. I enjoyed it.”
THE VIBE “Our inspiration for the day was all about the feeling – we wanted everyone to have fun, we see joy in the little things and we wanted everyone else to feel that. We wanted it to feel like us all the way. Nothing big and fancy; we didn’t think that would represent us very well. It was more like a collaboration of all the things and people we loved so dearly in our lives.”
THE DRESS “It was Christie Nicole Bridal – I knew I didn’t want anything that would impede my ability to have fun or distract me from enjoying the day. I was fairly sure I wanted a short dress, dancing was a must and having the wedding on the farm I didn’t love the idea of what a long dress might collect over the day/ night. Christie was the best. The dress I wore is normally a beautiful long gown but she said she could do it as a mini – so we went with the one that suited my body the best and I just loved the sleeves. I couldn’t have loved my dress anymore, it was comfortable, I could dance all night and I felt like myself.”
WE’RE GLAD WE… “Made the hard decision to cut our guest list down. We did this because we knew we would want to be able to spend time with everyone there and we just didn’t think it would be possible without becoming overwhelmed and it affecting our day. While that was really tough, we ended up inviting just super close family and friends. If we hadn’t had a proper meal with them as a couple we decided we could catch up another time but not at our wedding.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “Both Rhiannon Matthews and Sheree Dubois Photography are so easy-going and the perfect amount of silly so they suited us perfectly! They kept everything so natural, which is what we wanted, we didn’t want to spend lots of time away from the party. We wanted to enjoy the day and for it to be captured exactly how it happened. When we look at the photos and watch the video we just see us, as we were in all our beautiful normalcy, the most precious memories and a transportation back to that magical day exactly as it was. Also “
MEMORABLE MOMENT “It’s so hard to choose a favourite part – but walking between the ceremony and the reception was such a highlight. It felt very us to have a walk in the wedding and then entering the reception tent with a dance was just hilarious.”
These newlyweds are (rightfully so!) smitten by these sweet snaps from Sheree Dubois. You too? Obvs! Find Sheree’s deets on the Hello May directory.
