Having first crossed paths at uni, Anna and Dan (first featured in our Real Wedding Special) met just days before he left for an exchange semester in Norway. Because of the distance, the two were forced to get to know each other through email exchanges and Skype calls which Anna eventually collated in a book titled So I Think We Should Taco Truck’… an ode the line she first used to ask Dan out.

£For our engagement Dan completely recreated our first date, which was a meeting in the city, a cute picnic in Alexandra Gardens, going to a gig and a nightcap on Little Collins Street. He replicated almost every detail, even down the clothes he was wearing. Dan thought it would be fun to look back through the book and reminisce. On the very last page he had added a photo of us with the words Will you marry me?’—

So I Think We Should Taco Truck’ became the key motif for the day. Printed on the sign behind the bar and inspiring other subtle fiesta details, it also became the title of the couple’s DIY wedding favour (also their favourite detail from the day).

£We had an amazing time putting together a mixed CD of some of the most important songs in our relationship. It was a hell of a lot of fun to make and gave our guests something to listen to on the way home,— explains Anna, who worked alongside Green Scarf Girl, Madeline Druce Photography and Sooti Event Planning and Styling to create their colour-filled day.

Rocking a vintage 1950’s dress, Anna was lucky enough to find her dream gown in her first week of searching and thought it was perfect. £I was concerned about the state it may be in, and also whether it would fit me (as it came all the way from American Etsy store Dear Golden). It fit perfectly! Oh I was so excited when I saw it come in. Cute and quirky,— she tells us, though we hear that her choice of flower girls was just as unique as her pick of fashion.

After posting their engagement on Facebook, two of their good (adult) friends jokingly asked if they could be flower girls on the day. Anna quite earnestly responded yes.

£Even days before the event they still weren’t sure if we were joking or not until Anna told them to ensure they come over early on the day to pick up their petals and that we would be critiquing their rate of aisle coverage. What we thought would be funny, actually turned out really beautiful as they led the bridal party down the aisle.—
