It was Christmas morning when Nathan went to make Andrea a cuppa and came back with something super special. “He had my tea in a mug that read ‘Marry me?’. It had a picture of a diamond ring that Nathan had drawn himself, a hand-written proposal message and my engagement ring tied to the handle of the mug using a pink ribbon. It was enough to make me cry (I am definitely not a crier!) and I happily accepted.”

Held at The Pig and Pastry in Sydney, the couple admits they didn’t really have a theme as such but rather chose elements that both of them liked. “Understated, eclectic and a little vintage are the words that we had in mind throughout the planning process,” explains Andrea, who utilised help from Ashdown & Bee and Art of the Flower to style the day.

“Amy from Art of the Flower absolutely nailed the brief we gave her, which was to create a woodlands/earthy feel using mostly foliage with pops of colour and to ensure the arbour blended naturally into the surrounds,” says the bride, who wore a Erin Carroll Design gown.

“I never wanted the traditional wedding dress and I found that the process of wedding dress shopping in traditional bridal boutiques just wasn’t me. In the end, I ended up meeting my dress maker in a six week course I was doing that Nathan had gotten me as a birthday gift.”

Captured by Lara Hotz Photography, the pair says that her name was one that kep reappearing throughout wedding features that they fell in love with. “So much so that I think we checked out at least half of the venues she had photographed other weddings at. Ha! If she had that reaction on us with weddings the featured people we had no connection to, I could only imagine the impact of her photography on the day.”
