“We met at my best friend’s 21st and we’ve been inseparable ever since,” explains the bride. Eight-and-a-half years later these two tied the knot in this stunning micro wedding, a case of third time lucky, thanks to a cancellation by their venue in 2019 and COVID forcing them to ditch their dream Italian wedding in 2020. “After being devastated twice by forced cancellations, I couldn’t go through the whole process again, so we decided [on] an elopement, and we don’t regret a thing,” she adds. The bride and groom wore two of our favourite designers, Karen Willis Holmes and M.J. Bale, as well as enlisting the styling skills of The BIB Approach. All pics were by photographer, Nectarine, so do yourself a favour and scroll down…

THE VENUEAs soon as we found the beautiful Bina Maya Yallingup Escape on Instagram, we organised to view it and booked in straight away. It was absolutely perfect. There was a beautiful stretch of grass in the middle of the property surrounded by beautiful bushland and a large deck at one end, perfect for all the dancing later in the night. It also had stunning, modern accommodation for all our guests which was a must for us so we were able to celebrate the week together.”

THE VIBERelaxed, classic, Tuscan vibes were what we were going for. Our menu was traditional Italian, we had Aperol during cocktail hour and Brodie from The BIB Approach did an incredible job at incorporating the colours and textures of Italy into our styling. Our venue was located in the beautiful, natural surrounds of Australian bush so it was also important to us that this was still a feature on the day and as we didn’t want to just ‘recreate’ our Italian wedding. Brodie also made this vision come to life and we are so grateful for that.”

FAVE DETAILSBrodie from The BIB Approach nailed the brief and brought Tuscany to us. I mean, we even had Yallingup Woodfired bread, passionfruit, blueberries and grapes as a feature on the table. We had fairy lights strung above us as well, it was nothing we had ever seen before and it blew our minds. The flowers…WOW! Kara from Rose + Bud did an incredible job at nailing the neutral colour scheme and incorporated beautiful roses and flannel flowers into my bouquet. Not to mention she created the most perfect diagonal arbour for our ceremony! Lastly, Tom (ASKYA) – his voice is incredible!”

THE DRESSKaren Willis Holmes was the first boutique I went to. I had the most amazing experience there. Alana was so helpful and friendly and I walked away loving a completely different style of dress than I thought I would ever wear. I [also] went to a boutique that was holding a trunk show for another designer. Unfortunately, it was a horrible experience, including being double-booked, sharing a dressing room with a stranger and not being fitted or given shoes to try on. After the experience, I went straight back to Karen Willis Holmes where I found the ‘Beatrice’ gown that was a beautiful, timeless and romantic A-shape dress.”

REFERENCESI came across The BIB Approach and Brodie’s work on Instagram. Her style suited us perfectly and I knew straight away that I wanted her to be our stylist. From there I knew we were in good hands and Brodie found us the most incredible team to pull off our elopement.”

A WORD OF ADVICEWhen we planned the first two weddings I spent a lot of time thinking about and paying attention to all the small details. I took a different approach to our elopement. After the ordeal we went through it made us both realise what a wedding and getting married is all about. It opened our eyes to what the important things are. Also…everyone should have a videographer. It was the best advice given to me and we’re so glad we had one. I think I’ve watched the film over 100 times myself already!”

STANDOUT VENDORSBrodie from The BIB Approach without a doubt went above a beyond, she created the most perfect setting for us and brought our vision to life. She thought of every detail…even rosemary from her mum’s garden for our champagne coupes! Our photographer, Loren, (of Nectarine) captured our day so beautifully, her pictures were incredible. She was so patient with us throughout the whole ordeal of COVID and planning the elopement as she was due to travel to Italy with us. We were so grateful for her patience and flexibility.”
