It was while adventuring around Vegas, Mexico and Cuba that Alex found just the right moment to pop the big question to Alisha. “He got down on one knee and said ‘Alisha, you are the love of my life and best friend, will you marry me?’ We spent the rest of the day celebrating by swimming in the crystal clear ocean, drinking margaritas, and listening to Mariachi bands.”
Having spent some time dreaming up the ideal Byron Bay wedding, it was only right that the couple hold their celebration at The Fig Tree. “We really liked the central location, laid-back vibe, the stunning fig tree, the gorgeous old dairy and the view of the countryside, lighthouse, and ocean,” says the bride, who tells us that the day’s theme was essentially “romance in the garden”.
“Natural, rustic and a relaxed bohemian vibe. We wanted the wedding to be an informal affair, where everyone could have fun and feel the love and magic in the air.” And that it was, thanks to a to-die-for Suzanne Harward gown, photos by Beck Rocchi, stationery from Hello May fave Santiago Sunbird and styling by Byron Bay Weddings.
As for the couple these days? Lovebirds Alisha and Alex say that there are a couple of important things to keep in mind when taking on the feat of planning a wedding… “Take time to enjoy and experience the day as it goes so quickly. Listen to your instincts when you’re planning the wedding and ignore everything else.”
