This time last year we were jumping for joy at the release of Spell Bride 15 and now it’s time to do it all again with the release of Spell Bride 16’s campaign images by the ever so talented Johnny Abegg with hair and makeup by Luciana Rose (whose handy work you can check out in Issue 14, on sale now and stocked in newsagents nationally).
One of Spell’s co-founders Lizzy Abegg tells us, “we launched Spell Bride last year with just two gowns, and the response was absolutely overwhelming. When I was looking for a bridal gown last year I found it so hard to find something off the rack and finally understood why there had been such a positive response to our gowns”… Positive is right! It’s hard not to fall head over heels in love with each dress made up of delicate crochet, fine lace and flattering, bohemian inspired silhouettes.
We are finding it hard to pick a fave but for Lizzy the choice was easy as she explains, “well of course it is the Elizabeth which was a late addition based on my own wedding gown that Isabella designed for me. All I wanted was a gorgeous light, gauzy cotton wedding dress and I couldn’t find one! So with six weeks to go I asked my team to create one. We loved it so much we decided to make it a gown in the collection. Honestly, they are all beautiful for different reasons!” And she’s right too, the Gwendolyn, Magnolia and Aurora gowns are all amazing.
With a newly launched boutique on Browning Street in Byron Bay complete with a bridal suite which Lizzy describes as a “gorgeous, intimate space where our brides can try on our gowns in privacy while looking down on our store”, we think a trip to the North Coast should be on the cards for any bride-to-be and her bestie.
