Trini-+-Michael---Hello-May-Submission---035

First featured in the Real Wedding Special, a terribly hot 40 degree day, while camping at the Yorke Peninsula, Trini suspected nothing – despite noticing that Mike had consumed a few more beers than usual. After hiking to the beach and picking the perfect spot in the sand, Mike dropped the bombshell – and when we say bombshell we mean question….

£Mike presents a pair of gumboots, yes gumboots, and pops the question. He actually had to ask me twice as I was in shock. When I came to (of course) say yes, Mike slipped a gumboot on my left foot. I may have been dancing around in my new kicks, which need not be visualised. Background story is I had told Mike that all I wanted in life was a patch of dirt and a veggie patch with gumboots to match. We camped at Yorkes for five nights with no reception, so it was lovely to cherish the proposal before sharing the news.—

Focusing on nourishing food, gorgeous wine, great tunes and a lively but cosy atmosphere, the couple describes their day (captured by South Oz fave Dan Evans) as a big dinner party’ with their favourite humans. £It was lovely to receive compliments from our guests that the wedding was very us’,— says Trini, who admits that the search for her wedding gown required quite a bit of patience as she didn’t want a wear-one-time formal gown.

£A more casual look was what I was after. Three weeks out from the wedding, I found a lace top and skirt by Lover and fell in love with the design. The skirt had pockets. Pockets! And the customer service I received at Lover in Sydney was amazing. Friends and family were surprised by my relaxed approach but it had to feel right, like adopting a puppy.— Nicely put, Trini!

And while Mike states, in short, that his favourite memory was £when Trini rocked up—, the bride says that sharing their vows was a standout moment for her. £My goal was to make Mike tear up. I almost had him. Almost. Writing our vows became a healthy’ competition which took a month to complete. I think there was a hung jury on whose were best, but Mike claims to take the title. I guess I can give him this one, as I do often cheat at thumb wrestles.—

Undeniably a fun-loving twosome, who never take life too seriously, Trini and Mike hit the nail on the head when describing the meaning of marriage. £We think a great marriage is built on the number of stupid jokes you make up and enjoy with each other that no one else understands. The ability to make someone laugh out loud across the other side of a crowded room with a silly gesture is more important than anything money can buy.—
