Editor of Yen magazine Annie and graphic/textile designer Harry, who had already been together nine years, weren’t wasting any time when they got married just seven months after their engagement (first featured in issue 14). “People love to tell you you need to plan years in advance or you’re dreaming about organising things quickly but a mixture of luck and simplifying the day made it pretty easy. The venue we wanted was available for a few of the dates we’d asked about, so once that was locked in, the ball was rolling. We also had decided that we didn’t want a traditional wedding, which in some ways ticked off a lot of our to-do list – no cars, no bridesmaids and groomsmen, a small ceremony of just family and then a big party with everyone.”

Going for a fun, low-key day that was focused on being surrounded by the people they love and everyone having one heck of a time, the pair stuck to their guns, creating a day that was very ‘them’ and pinpointing what was most important. “We wanted the food and wine to be really good and plentiful, everyone to be in the same room and a relaxed environment. Plus somewhere that we didn’t have to do a lot too – call us lazy but we didn’t fancy all-night craft sessions,” says Annie, who opted for an extremely nontraditional bridal get-up.

“I blame my mum for dressing me as a kid in OshKosh B’gosh for kickstarting my love of jumpsuits and overalls. Team that with an aversion to white, bar the odd t-shirt and a love of pattern, and I knew I wanted something fun that felt like me and that I was comfortable in.”

That being said, Annie landed on a super fun Reformation jumpsuit and, we’ve got to say, she totally rocked it. “I thought ‘Why not?’ It has flowers on in it, it doesn’t cost a bomb and I’d be able to wear it again,” she tells us, having completed the look with some shoes she just couldn’t pass up, the “Sonny to the Cher jumpsuit”… and one of Harry’s favourite details from the day. “I loved her shoes. It sums up why I love her, kooky and fun.”

With good eats from Koskela, good fashion and the amazing team of Dan O’Day and Andrea Rose behind them, these lovebirds couldn’t rave about their brilliant photography team enough. “It felt like having friends follow us around on the day, they were such great company, so easygoing and such professionals. They got some amazing shots of us that we feel so incredibly lucky to have.”
