Clearly a master of surprises Jac arranged a dinner for Jana’s birthday at The Rocks and then took her up to Observatory Hill where some friends helped set up a picnic mat with the works.

“Candles were placed everywhere, there was champagne, chocolate and strawberries! I was left speechless when he reached for a gift bag and took out the engagement ring. He said a beautiful speech and asked the question on his knees. It was a very unexpected surprise but amazing with the entire scenery.”

When the wedding planning commenced, Jana searched for a venue nonstop until a friend suggested that she check out Avalon Sailing Club, a DIY venue with a beautiful view.

“The theme I was going for was a kind of rustic and elegant at the same time. I wanted to create love and a relaxed easy going vibe! It turned out to be exactly what I had imagined,” explains Jana, who designed her own dress and had it made by The Doll House.

“I had a look at various dresses but wasn’t happy with any. So I thought it would be cool to design my own which took about 2 months to think of a design. I loved the process of designing my own dress because I was able to make it my own and uniquely different.”

Captured by Alex Carlyle, the couple tells us all of their vendors were ‘super lovely’, and agree that the reception was a standout part of the day. “The guests went absolutely crazy at our reception! The funniest moment was when the groom’s dad decided to strip down, and jump into the water. And then others deciding to go along with it and jump in as well. That was the highlight of the night!”
