Oh man. What a day! Our fourth annual Real Wedding Special hit newsstands nationally on Thursday February 1 and we just so happened to be in Byron Bay that week shooting the new Spell Bride collection. So why not take the opportunity to celebrate the launch of this very special mook (that’s a half magazine, half book for those following along at home) by gathering our favourite local creators and business women together for a long lunch.
We of course turned to those culinary geniuses at Three Blue Ducks at The Farm to host us. Not only is it one of our fave Byron wedding venues, but these guys sure make a mean cocktail – Ketel One vodka, fresh lime juice, farm grown mint, finger lime syrup & seasonal blueberries anyone? We can see why so many of our readers choose to tie the knot here, the staff are next level amazing and being on a working farm (only 5 minutes from Byron township no less) really is something special – we even had roosters meandering underneath our table!
No one would of been in attendance without our rad letter pressed invitations from D&d letterpress, who also whipped up menus and place cards that Rach from Peachey Pie Weddings so artfully styled on the table with raffia placemats and linen napkins from The Wedding Shed, rose quartz crystals from Byron Bay Tipi Weddings, some tousled blush linen along with blooms from Jess at Poppy and Fern Flowers. It’s easy to see why these two lovely ladies are go-to vendors for brides tying the knot in the Byron Shire and beyond (You can check out more of their work in this awesome wedding here)
After canapû?s and cocktails were served on the deck, we sat down to a delicious three course lunch and it was so motivating and inspiring being surrounded by so many creative humans, there was such a buzz in the air, even more so once everyone peeked into their goodie bags which included a macramû? bag from The Beach People (perfect for the honeymoon!), the most delicious smelling candle from Damselfly (best bridesmaids gift going around if you ask us!) and rocky road from those sweet humans at Black Pantry, who are our go to for wedding favours – their homemade marshmallows are the stuff dreams are made of. We of course threw in a copy of our fourth annual Real Wedding Special for everyone to enjoy too, with our beautiful cover by Blacklist Studio.
But we wouldn’t even be sharing this story with you if it wasn’t for wedding photographer, lover of a good Bloody Mary and all round talented human being Janneke Storm. She moved around the group effortlessly snapping moments we didn’t even know were happening. Women lending an ear to an old friend or offering a warm hug to a new one. Yep. There were feels at the launch of our fourth annual Real Wedding Special. We can’t wait to do it all again in Sydney TODAY! Be sure to follow along our Instagram stories for all of the behind the scenes fun!
