We thought we’d wrap up the last week of 2017 with a bit of a ‘Best Of’ series. We kicked things off yesterday with the most popular bouquets from the past 12 months (according to your clicks, likes and comments through out the year) and today we’re all about the gowns!

You see here at HM HQ, we love a good wedding frock, and boy have we had the privilege of seeing so many stunning gowns this year. It’s always a delight to see a bride rocking her best self in the gown she feels represents her, and what a lovely feeling that is!

So with out further delay – here are the gowns your clicks, likes, comments told us were the most popular in 2017. The common thread? Brides throwing tradition out the window and choosing to trust their guts and go their own way when it came to picking the dress they’d walk down the aisle in towards the human they like the most.

ADELE + SIMON, ODYLYNE, LOVE MARIE
Our gorgeous cover couple from issue 18 (which you can still purchase here with free postage), Adele rocked a one of a kind Odylyne gown from Sydney boutique Love Marie in south west NSW. The stunning sequinned gown positively glowed in the afternoon light, giving us all the feels! Keep your eyes out for this stunning wedding, photographed by James Simmons, which will feature on the blog later this year.

SARAH + SAM, RUE DE SEIN, THE BRIDAL ATELIER
Sarah looked like a goddess in her beautiful Rue De Seine gown from Melbourne boutique, The Bridal Atelier. “I’m more of a jumpsuit gal, but on a trip back to Melbourne, I thought for laughs I’d go along to one of those bridal shops. We’d drink champagne and try on some dresses with Mum and my bridesmaids? just for fun… After trying on a few obvious no’s’, our attendant suggested the Zeppelin Gown and I couldn’t wipe away the smile!” Photographed by Brown Paper Parcel.

SUZE + LIAM, LOST IN PARIS
A vision out of a lovely dream, Suze looked the part in her stunning Lost in Paris dress, check out that fringed hem! £Ahh the dress! I began following Lost in Paris when one of my best friends was getting married over five years ago. I love her ethics and ability to give new life to old fabrics, and while I did first visit some bigger bridal boutiques, I found my experience with Lost in Paris to be so much more down-to-earth. They had a beautiful sample dress on the racks made from a 1920s silk piano shawl that was everything I had dreamt of and more. And lucky for me, they had just enough of that fabric left to make a custom dress for me!— Photographed by Matt Godkin.

INDIGO + JOE, BO AND LUCA
£Bo & Luca‘s Isra was actually the first dress I tried on,” Indigo tells us. “I had seen a few of their dresses online, and loved the idea of using an Australian designer. When we finally saw the dress, the details (especially the embroidery) were beautiful. I loved the Isra two-piece design; it just felt a bit more casual and ended up being so comfortable I didn’t want to try on anything else,— said the bride, and man did she rock it! This gorgeous Aussie label is now stocked at Hope X Page in Sydney and Sphere Collective on the Sunshine Coast. Photos by Ben Sowry.

MADELINE + JAKE, CHLOE
We fell in love with Madeline and Jake the moment we spied the gorgeous photography from Janneke Storm, which is why this gorgeous bride and her stunning limited edition Chloe gown made the cover of our issue 17 (which you can order online here with free shipping). £Being a stylist, you’d think I’d have everything planned…My problem was, there was always a new collection showing or an amazing new designer emerging and I just didn’t want to miss out. I basically couldn’t decide, what kind of bride did I want to be?’— Photos by Janneke Storm.

COURTNEY + KIERAN, DAALARNA, HOPE X PAGE
Courtney rocked the stunning Hungarian designer, Daarlana, on her big day, and man did she look every bit the goddess in the beautiful tulle and lace gown. £I’m so in love with my dress, I went shopping to lots of different boutiques but when I walked into Hope X Page and meet Alex I knew I was in the place I would find my dress it was so different from what I thought I would wear but you have to go with your heart, Eva the in-house seamstress is so talented and made all my wedding dress dreams come true.”

JESS + LUCAS, LOLA VARMA
Jess and Lucas’s WA wedding was a stunning outdoor affair filled with good times, beautiful styling and one epic party! ” I was very reluctant to buy a dress designed specifically for a wedding but when I found Lola Varma on Instagram I instantly fell in love with their style,” Jess tells us. “Every piece that I tried, I fell in love with. It was the only place I looked, I knew as soon as I soon as I walked into the studio that I was in the right place.— Photos by Nick Cooper from Apertunity Productions.

KELLY + MARK, ONE DAY BRIDAL
Oh we are partial to a good sequinned gown, as was the lovely Kelly, who wed her beau in the breathtaking Victorian bushland. Knowing she wasn’t looking for something that screamed ‘BRIDE!’, she discovered the Melbourne label, One Day Bridal. £The team at One Day Bridal are the most lovely women, it was bittersweet picking my dress up on the final day as I didn’t have any more fittings booked with them!— Photos by Free The Bird Weddings.

SHANNON + TAYLOR, MADE WITH LOVE
After a visit to the One Fine Day Fair, Shannon discovered her dream dress from Made With Love, £I went to Savvy Brides with Mum a little while later, tried the Frankie on (no pockets, no rushing) and immediately pictured myself on the day of the wedding dancing with Taylor in this dress. The train was beautiful beyond belief, and the dress was mega comfy (again perfect for dancing)!— Photos by Scott Surplice.

CHLOE + DAK, VICTORIA BECKHAM
Sometimes it takes trying on that gown you wouldn’t have immediately picked out to realise how damn good it is, as Chloe found when she and her pals wandered through Harolds in London on afternoon. ” As soon as I had it on I knew it was the one. It fit like a glove and I immediately saw myself getting married in it. A rather painless process considering it was day one!— The dress in question was a stunning Victoria Beckham frock, and man did she look the part! Photos by Beck Rocchi.
