Occasionally we see a wedding that has us eagerly scrawling pen across paper, falling head over heels or eagerly Pinterest-ing our favourite shots. Liane and Mark’s intimate shindig is one such wedding. This detail rich day has us lusting after branches of cotton and orange blossoms to drape effortlessly across our ceiling (fire hazard or not!)
Having being pals for a good 8 years prior to their relationship, Liane and Mark’s engagement couldn’t have been more ‘them’. On New Year’s Day this year, Mark took Liane down to a tiny beach in Portsea that had always been a favourite of theirs. “It was a very relaxed proposal, with us sitting with our feet in the sand as Mark turned to me and asked me to be his wife.” She said yes of course!
Initially the pair considered an elopement, however with a little research they realised they could still achieve their dream of an intimate yet elegant celebration with their loved ones. “As we discussed things further we felt it was really important to us to share our day with our immediate family and close friends, and we wanted to do this in Australia as we both feel very connected to our home.” As luck would have it, they managed to secure The Estate Trentham as the venue for their celebrations, a favourite location for the pair. To help with the styling, planning and delicious food they enlisted the help of Pot & Pan, the troublesome trio Celeste, Sam and Tash whose incredible work saw the day run smooth as could be.
After a good ol’ Google search, Liane and Mark came across Madeline Druce, the photographer they very quickly realised was the perfect match for them and their day. “We immediately connected & I just loved her photographic style…We will forever be grateful to Maddie for her amazing energy on the day, in helping us feel comfortable and natural with her around.”
On the dress front, Liane explains it wasn’t so simple. Having already visited four bridal boutiques and not quite finding the elusive ‘you just know’ feeling she’d always heard of. Luckily, Liane met with our friends at One Day Bridal in Melbourne. “I met with the lovely Brooke, and I tried on the £Moss gown. As soon as I put it on, I felt the feeling people say you will. It was perfect – simple, elegant and I felt like £me, which was so important as I feel both Mark & I are very natural people and I wanted Mark to feel he was marrying me, but just a little dressed up!”
