For most of us, planning just one day is enough but Jan and Nam were willing to take on the challenge of organising two. “NYC is our favourite city and prior to our wedding here in Australia, we actually got married in NYC at the 620 Loft and Garden. We had roughly 60 people travel from Australia over to NYC for the big day”, says Jan, explaining that their wedding in Australia was much more traditional… “it was a big deal for our parents we had over 400 guests.”
Shot by photographer Jessica Tremp of Brown Paper Parcel Jam and Nam included all the colours, smells and sounds that make up a traditional Vietnamese wedding including a tea ceremony, dancing lions, traditional Vietnamese dresses (ao dai’s) and typical Vietnamese culinary delights.
“My favourite part would have to be walking down our street with the whole party as as well as with the lion dancers. The weather worked out perfectly as the rain stopped at just the right time for us to walk”, says Jan. Making their way to a Chinese restaurant in Sydney, Jan quickly changed out of her stunning red Vietnamese dress into a timeless, lace gown by Adelaide designer Paolo Sebastian before dancing the night away (again) with her new husband.
