Casey thought nothing of it when she stood on a sticker from a florist or when Evan continuously hounded her to get ready for tea hours early. That is, until she walked into the lounge room to find him with a big bunch of blooms and a beautiful custom-designed sapphire ring.
After a few selfies (this is a modern love story after all) and phone calls to parents and friends later, they headed off for a celebratory dinner where Casey told anyone who would listen (and many who wouldn’t) that they were newly engaged.
Held at Montrose Berry Farm in the Southern Highlands, Casey and Evan hoped to create a super colourful day halfway between their two families. “Our wedding was a celebration so it was all about bright, bold colours. The bride also has a penchant for retro styling which lent itself to a retro Mexicana theme,” the couple explains, adding that their florist, LGW Designs did an especially amazing job.
“Lou from LGW really understood what I was trying to achieve I wanted bright, textures and fun! I was really happy to chat to her, show her some photos, and then leave it all in her hands. When I saw the bouquets early in the morning it was like the jumble of thoughts in my head came to life, she had captured what I wanted so well,” explains Casey, who wore a Brides of Manuka gown.
“Once I had it on, I did not want to take it off! I was smiling from ear to ear, and even though it was so tight I could hardly step up onto the podium, I knew it was the one I wanted. My mum knew too; by the time I had gotten changed back into my normal clothes mum had laid down the deposit!”
Though these newlyweds tell us not much has changed since getting married (aside from having been able to share the love with all their friends and family), they remind other brides and grooms of a few things. 1. Spreadsheets are your friend. 2. Stay true to yourselves. And 3. Hire Mitch Pohl as your photographer.
“You spend a lot of time with your photographer on the day, so we are very glad we worked with Mitch Pohl he is so cruisy and fun to be around! Add to that he takes brilliant photos and we knew we were on to a winner!”
