Given that she makes wedding dresses for a living, Kimberley certainly wasn’t going to give up the chance to create her own! “I knew I wanted to sparkle (thankfully the sun came out when I walked down the aisle!) and I knew I wanted something unique and unexpected, and definitely nothing too bride-y’,” explains the bride, who adds that she and Sean knew all along that they didn’t want a traditional formal reception.
Opting for a fun, cocktail party vibe, the couple only looked at two other venues before settling on Sails on Lavender Bay in Sydney. “We loved the location (that view!) and the food and wine were absolutely incredible. We both love good food and wine so that was a must, and the staff were professional, relaxed and friendly the whole night.”
Aside from Sean’s face as Kimberley walked down the aisle, the newlyweds agree that their favourite detail was the gorgeous flowers. “Amy from Petals & Leaves worked tirelessly to bring our vision to life, incorporating all our favourite flowers in to arrangements and bouquets scattered throughout the ceremony and reception,” the couple tells us, though they enlisted a tonne of other great vendors like Sarkodie Photography and AbraCardAbra to help pull off their awesome day.
“Abra from AbraCardAbra went above and beyond the night before the wedding when we realised we didn’t have enough flags for the wedding favours – she personally went out of her way to make some more and drive them over to us at 9:30 that night! All the vendors were absolutely amazing and we can’t recommend them highly enough.”
