Bride and groom during their Botanical Gardens wedding ceremony in Hobart

Tassie really turned on the charm for Sal and Scott’s Hobart wedding, delivering a day every bit as bright, relaxed and blissful as the couple themselves. With an outdoor ceremony at the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens followed by a reception at Frogmore Creek, their Tasmania wedding was all about good energy, great food, colourful flowers and, most importantly, not taking things too seriously.

In fact, prioritising how they wanted their wedding to feel was one of Sal and Scott’s biggest pieces of advice. “The main thing people are still raving about is the energy that was in the air on the day. For us, that’s the best feedback and rave we could ask for.”

And these two have some excellent wedding advice to share: “Make wedding merch”, “there are no rules”, and “a bit of a luxury, but a wedding planner is worth it!”

It’s easy to see why the day came together so beautifully with locally based planner Dear Leone at the helm, alongside Sounds Good for lighting and sound, Lottie Phillips for the colourful florals, and Jess Oakenfull capturing all those wonderfully happy snaps.

Below, Sal and Scott share everything from their unconventional second-hand wedding dress shopping experience and tried-and-true InStitchu tux to their colourful wedding flowers, personalised guest letters and the very excellent wedding merch that made its way into the crowd.

Outdoor Wedding Ceremony at the Hobart Botanical Gardens

“We were aiming for fun and convenience with an outdoorsy vibe (as much as Tasmanian weather would allow!) for our day. The botanical gardens was a no-brainer for our ceremony (florals, outdoor space, green, fresh air!) and Frogmore we had been to a few times and it just felt right.”

Colourful Wedding Flowers & Personalised Guest Letters

“Our flowers were unreal! So many people commented on how bright and fun this made the energy of the day. We also decided to write letters to our guests which we are so glad we did. It was a little extra touch that felt like a giant hug for everyone. Does the weather count as a detail? Because it was spot on!”

Favourite wedding moments

“We decided to see each other and hang out with our families and the wedding party before the ceremony, which was hands down one of the best decisions we made for the day. It felt so special to share a cheers, get some pics and be excited with our nearest and dearest before the best type of chaos unfolded.  Our first dance was also a highlight – about three seconds of Scott and I trying to dance followed by one big group hug on the dancefloor all belting out Sweet Disposition. Perfection!”

The Groom’s Tried-and-True InStitchu Suit

The Best Tasmania Wedding Planner

“Everyone who was a part of our day gave 110 per cent! We felt like guests at our own wedding – we didn’t have to think of a thing. Gee and her team (Dear Leone) were like little fairies in the background making sure it was exactly what we wanted.”
