Tinder twosome and top notch humans Adele and Hamish got hitched after five years together. Their engagement was shorter than most, with the pair planning this banger of a bash in just four months (from within the newborn bubble to boot!) “I was on maternity leave with time on my hands, we knew we wanted to get married, and suddenly it was just… why not now? So our ‘proposal’ was really just a calm, honest conversation, no big gestures, no theatrics and I honestly wouldn’t have had it any other way,” the bride told us.

Hosted at Narryna House in Battery Point, the vibe was retro-infused featuring ’70 tunes, eclectic furniture and vintage decor. But ultimately it was “less about following a strict theme and more about creating a celebration that felt timeless, nostalgic and completely us,” says Adele, who wore a sweet bridal mini with gloves and a low heel from Bared Footwear.

With such a tight timeline, the couple say they were “incredibly lucky to have The Event Connoisseur take the planning reins. Also in the mix: Flora Gondwana on florals, Scarlett Quarmby on beauty, and M.J. Bale suits for the groomsmen. Meanwhile, Sabre Catering covered feasting and Jess Oakenfull captured the mems (“hands down the best photographer in Tasmania,” to quote the couple!!)

BATTERY POINT VENUE | OUTDOOR WEDDING CEREMONY

“Because it was very much a ‘gunshot’ wedding planned right in the middle of peak wedding season, our options were fairly limited. We also only had a 10-day window to work with – our best friends were moving to WA at the end of January, and my husband’s parents live in China and were visiting over the Christmas break. I knew I wanted a venue close to the Hobart waterfront. That time of year the city is buzzing, with the Sydney to Hobart yachts arriving and The Taste of Tasmania in full swing – it just felt alive. I came across Narryna House and instantly fell in love with it, and we were incredibly lucky to discover they had one Friday available. . . We didn’t hesitate for a second and locked it in immediately.”

Retro Wedding Inspiration | ’60s Bridal Mini & Vintage Styling Ideas

“I didn’t set out with a rigid theme, but I knew I wanted a retro, ‘60s-inspired feel for the wedding, starting with my dress. I chose a short A-line mini that immediately set the tone. As guests arrived, we had live crooners performing Broadway-style musical theatre mixed with cruisy acoustic harmonies, which created a warm, nostalgic atmosphere. The eclectic furniture and the venue itself helped shape the overall vibe, adding layers of character and personality, while the florals leaned into a ‘60s-inspired palette and structure. I have always loved the ‘70s, especially Fleetwood Mac, so walking down the aisle to one of their songs felt completely natural. In the end, the theme evolved organically into a blend of retro eras, music and style that I love.”

ICONIC Wedding RECEPTION ENTRANCE

“My favourite memory of the day was definitely walking into the reception after cocktail hour to ‘I Was Made for Lovin You’ by Kiss with my whole bridal party. It was so much fun and such a great way to get everyone up on the dance floor and set the vibe for the night.”

Short Engagement Wedding Planning Tips – Why Hiring a Planner Matters

“I would absolutely recommend using a wedding planner. It takes so much of the stress off your shoulders, keeps you on track, and gives you access to incredible vendor connections you might not find on your own. It also means the people you love can simply enjoy the day alongside you, rather than feeling responsible for making everything run smoothly… In the end, it’s one of the best investments you can make for both your sanity and your celebration.”

STANDOUT TASMANIA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

Jess Oakenfull is hands down the best photographer in Tasmania. We first worked with her on a photoshoot a few years before the wedding and loved her work so much that choosing her again was an easy decision. She has an incredible ability to make you feel completely comfortable and truly yourself, which shines through in every photo. Her images speak for themselves and she captures people in the most natural and beautiful way.”
