El and Joel took Lisa and Alex’s advice by employing some of the best vendors in the business, including photographer Martine Payne, to help them create a relaxed wedding that was anything but ordinary.
“A lot of our vendors were found through looking at weddings on the Hello May blog – like our florist, Flower Jar and videographer, Lovely Day Films”, says El who also found her dress from Lost in Paris (previously Kitsch Bitsch) online as well as their amazing caterers (the good folk of Bursaria who are currently giving away a $35,000 wedding package!)
Their ceremony, which was held at Collingwood Children’s Farm in Melbourne’s CBD (also featured here) incorporated a number of Jewish traditions, including a chuppah made by two nimble-fingered friends using origami flowers as well as a boat load of bunting courtesy of Oh! Moments.
The traditions continued at the reception, held at Abbotsford Convent, with The White Tree and the horah. “The band introduced the horah and encouraged everyone to get involved. I kept looking around me and seeing people who had never done it just getting amongst it and clearly really enjoying themselves”, says El.
Overall her advice to couples is this: “Try and resist the Google, Etsy, Pinterest, Instagram black hole. Find a few blogs or sites that you like and trust and be at peace that you can’t possibly consider all the thousands of options out there.”
