They say you learn something new everyday, and today we’ve learnt how to stage the most epic pop up wedding. High school sweethearts Annie and Isaac arrived at Angel Place in Sydney’s CBD with an entourage of guests and some giant-sized paper flowers. “We didn’t book the ceremony location, we just turned up with our guests”, says Annie. “A tour group, some confused Ivy goers and two police officers joined the ceremony, took some photos and left quietly.”
We would have stopped and stared too, unable to tear our eyes away from Annie’s amazing mint infused gown by Atelier Altaari and cascading bouquet by her own company, Francis Floristry. Of her dress, Annie says “I looked for eight months in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne and couldn’t find a thing that I liked and could afford without selling my organ and prize hound dog for… My dress maker saw my vision and made it reality and all within two months. She’s a miracle worker! It was the most comfortable dress I’ve ever worn!”
Before making their grand entrance however, Annie and Isaac stole a few moments with photographer Ben Adams inside the Royal Botanical Gardens. “… just him and I and the photographer hiding behind the cactus… that moment was ours and ours alone”, says Annie, a woman who has always marched to the beat of her own drum.
“… we weren’t catering to anyones idea of a wedding. It was the most “us” day possible”, says Annie, who had styled their beautiful reception at Ripples Chowder Bay, where they traveled to by boat to eat cake and dance the night away with family and friends.
