Micaela and Brennan’s wedding morning was a little more chaotic than they’d imagined. With rain on the radar, the pair had to quickly pivot and bring their outdoor ceremony in. As you can see though, these two didn’t let a bit of water get them down, and the day was full of good food, music, and lots of love, just like they’d always hoped. As the couple’s wedding photographer, Georgia Verrells, so accurately captioned the day, “It was such a good reminder that the weather doesn’t make the memories, the people do.”
For a subtle vintage feel, the couple adorned their Mount Kembla venue with op shop finds (and a retro-esque audio guestbook from Off the Hook). The groom wore M.J. Bale while the bride opted for two stunning frocks, styled with Michael Hill Jewellery and TMC Fine Jewellers engagement ring. But perhaps the most special accessory was the couple’s wedding bands – made with an alchemy of gold from family heirloom pieces.

CHARMING VINTAGE VIBES
“Ruby’s was the first and only venue we viewed, we fell in love with it from the moment we stepped in. We felt it fit our aesthetic and vibe perfectly – intimate, slightly vintage feeling and full of character & charm. Not only that, but they are also exceptional at what they do.”
OP SHOP TREASURES
“We completely DIY’d all the décor, months of collecting from op shops, sending groomsmen, parents, bridesmaids on different op shop hunts, we managed to pull together our vision with everything we could have wanted.”
HIGHLIGHTS & HEIRLOOMS
“Our rings – we had gold melted down from Brennan’s mum’s wedding band and my late Nonna’s wedding band to make ours. Brennan’s cousin, Caity, sang me and my girls down the aisle. The girls walked down to Teenage Dirtbag (at Brennan’s request), it was so sentimental. And our flowers! A labour of love, Wednesday morning Sydney Flower Markets with Teaghan and my sister-in-law Bec. We went in with a plan and when we arrived, we realised they had none of the flowers I had picked. A quick coffee break, slight freak out, Pinterest search and with Teaghan’s expertise she was able to pull together something that was incredibly beautiful and better than the initial vision. We then spent Thursday arranging the flowers on my back deck with a few glasses of wine.”
A SIMPLE SUIT SEARCH
“M.J. Bale was the first and only suit I tried on. I was looking for a classic tuxedo abd have always liked the look and feel of M.J. Bale’s wool suits, it was a clear go-to!”
STANDOUT WEDDING PROS
“All our vendors were incredible, but we specifically have to call out our photographer Georgia Verrells and Alisha (celebrant/MC). Georiga is truly incredible at what she does, she makes you feel completely comfortable and at ease. The day prior I was feeling a little overwhelmed with the fear of rain, but Georgia gave me lots of cuddles and we had a game plan on where and what we would do if it did rain. The photos turned out better than I could have ever imagined! Alisha goes above and beyond what could ever be expected, we had multiple family and friends tell us it was the most intimate and thoughtful ceremony they had ever been to. Alisha was also our MC; she kept everything to schedule and even had time for a little boogie to Taylor Swift with us to end the night. In the lead-up to the wedding, she gave us so much support and guidance, she was truly invaluable.”
