We are a little bit smitten with this gorgeous couple here at Hello May. Not only are the photos by Lakshal Perera Photography (or Lucky as we like to call him) all five major kinds of awesome but Pitinada and Sonny are rather wonderful themselves. Pitinada is a wedding photographer and was surfing the net one day, looking for inspiration when she spotted this elopement on a fellow photographers blog. She knew instantly that was for her and ran the idea of a quiet wedding for two by Sonny, who couldn’t agree more
We love that they helped each other get ready in the morning but still managed to keep one special surprise for the ceremony! Keeping each others rings a secret from each other for six months was no mean feat, even sneaking off on separate occasions to get them engraved. Pitinada says, “Lucky got to see both of them together before we did and he was the ring bearer too!”
Almost everything for Pitinada and Sonny’s special day was bought on Etsy and eBay (including the dress) “Almost everything was handmade besides our shoes because I love everything handcrafted and Etsy is my favourite shopping mall,” says Pitinada. “I bought a Polaroid camera and film from eBay, my second favourite shopping mall. As a photographer, I would love to cover my own wedding… but obviously I can’t. Luckily I found lucky! He’s such a cool dude. But Polaroid was the answer to my ‘I want-to-be-my-own-wedding-photographer’ wish.”
A quick costume change after the portrait session saw Pitinada and Sonny enjoy a beer and a cyder on the balcony at Redesdale Estate – now that’s our kinda reception!
