Hayley & Kyle's Dreamy NZ Destination Wedding

We have two words for you: Destination wedding. And when both the bride and groom are travel content creators by trade, you know it’s going to be a goodie. These two Queensland-based lovers were visiting Lake Tekapo, New Zealand, when Kyle (@Kyle_Hunter) proposed to Hayley (@haylsa) in a field of lupin flowers – a turquoise blue lake and snow-capped mountains in the background.

This core memory served as key inspiration for the duo’s picturesque, whimsical ‘I do’s, hosted at Rippon Hall, Wanaka. “Our inspiration was actually NZ itself and the beautiful lupin flowers we got engaged in. We wanted the day to celebrate the surroundings as we both feel a really strong emotional connection to NZ.”

THE VENUE

“We actually looked at venues in Bali, and also enquired at multiple venues all over Australia. We were hesitant to get married in NZ because of the unpredictability of the weather, but after not really feeling anything for all the other venues we enquired at Rippon Hall and visited the venue on our trip to NZ. I was always told that we would know the right venue when we saw it based on a feeling, and I was beginning to believe that maybe we won’t feel that. But as soon as we stepped foot onto Rippon Hall, we both knew INSTANTLY, and booked it in that week.”

FAVE DETAILS

“My favourite detail was the Lupin flower aisle. I haven’t ever seen that done, and it felt super unique to us and our love story. We also wrote a personalised card for all our guests that we placed at their seats at the table. I arranged bagpipes to be playing for Kyle’s arrival as a surprise to include his heritage, as he is from Scotland. We also arranged for a helicopter to take us to a mountain top for our wedding photos.”

THE DRESS

“My dress was custom-made by Miranda from Aston Bridal, and it was the BEST experience! I saw a dress from her on my TikTok, and was instantly drawn to the design. I flew to Sydney to meet with her, where we came up with the design together. My vision was something a little more dramatic with lots of lace and embroidered flowers. It took her around five months to complete my gown and mini.”

THE SUIT

“Kyle’s suit was from M.J. Bale, and he went with a classic tuxedo. He went in store, picked it out, and they made some alterations to fit his body to perfection. It was a great experience and fitted him so well.”

STANDOUT VENDORS

“Huge shout out to our planner, Sera from Something Borrowed. She made the day run seamlessly and brought such a beautiful, calm aura. Also, another big shout-out to our florist/stylist, Rachel (The Green Room Flower Co). She and her team really went above and beyond to bring our vision to life. She was incredible! Our caterers, Aspiring Catering, for cooking honestly the BEST food. Our guests are still talking about the food. And lastly, our content team (More Life, Taylor Kezia and She Socials) were 10/10 to work with and captured the day sooooo well.”
