Glenn and Doretta’s nups get a standing ovation from us. The classical violinists planned their Sydney wedding whilst residing on the other side of the world. Set on celebrating with friends and fam, the pair squeezed the heartfelt soiree in during a quick visit home to Australia, impressively sandwiching it within days of Chrissy and a gig with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra (yep, you read that right!)

We are in awe of every whimsical, romantic detail (and the couple’s supreme scheduling skills ofc). With such a stellar ensemble of vendors, we’re hardly surprised Glenn and Doretta’s day was such a dream. The Blue Ducks was the spot to be, The White Tree band hit all the right notes, makeup artist Liv Lundelius brought out Doretta’s natural beauty, and florist The Lillipillian wow’ed as per usual. Photographer Scott Surplice left us speechless with these snaps, and we chatted with the new Mr and Mrs. We know you will LOVE this one. Check it all out below!

THE VENUE “Doretta’s parents did a lot of the leg work as we were based in Germany. Three Blue Ducks was the third and final venue we looked at (virtually, that is), and we were totally won over. Planning a wedding overseas was quite interesting, but we were looked after from beginning to end by the wonderful Amanda, who answered every question promptly (no matter how stupid) with patience and absolute proficiency. Being able to rely on her throughout the whole process was incredibly important and contributed to our final decision about the venue. Plus, the venue’s excellence speaks for itself – an amazing space with incredible food and no noise restrictions. Tick, tick, tick!”

FAVE DETAILS “Tegan from The Lillipillian did SUCH an incredible job with our very vague brief. We wanted colour, fun and to incorporate the 90 elephants we’d collected as [wedding favours], but the rest was up to her, and she absolutely shined. She incorporated beautiful flowers with our weird and wonderful collection of elephants and used tomatoes, chillies, and other vegetables/fruit to make the stunning table arrangements. Her bouquet was gorgeous, and the plinth arrangement was just divine. We have to also mention the food and service from Three Blue Ducks. Everyone was raving about it, and [the food] was bloody delicious.”

MEMORABLE MOMENT “I think we’re both really happy and grateful that the whole day was really relaxed in general. We got ready together in the same house, with our families coming to join us, and it was so special to have this time all together after so long living overseas. Our German friends weren’t able to come (nor did we expect them to fly all the way to Australia for us!) But one good friend put together the most incredible video with snippets from different groups of friends wishing us well. It even included my orchestra playing us ‘The Wedding March’ in one of the most famous concert halls in Germany!”

WE’RE GLAD WE… “We had been tossing up whether to have a party at all or to have a much smaller affair with immediate family, but we’re really glad we had all of our friends there too. Alongside our family, they’re the people who will be by our sides (and us by theirs) throughout our lives. It was really special to share such a moment with them all.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “All of them! We couldn’t have asked for better. There were, of course, some hiccups on the day, but all were dealt with extraordinarily professionally and smoothly. Scott wasn’t feeling 100%, so organised a backup photographer just in case! In the end he was able to push through, which we’re so grateful for. His photos turned out so beautifully! One of the singers in The White Tree was also sick on the day, but the band pivoted and locked in another amazing singer super quickly. Tegan from The Lilllipillian did some fantastic floral arrangements which totally blew us away. She was so easy and relaxed to work with, and we got so many positive comments. We definitely wouldn’t have had such a great day without Amanda and the whole team at Three Blue Ducks. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this amazing venue to anyone, and we’re so thankful for their professionalism, kindness, and expertise.”

You heard the newlyweds. Hiccups are bound to happen, but the right vendor team will keep the day humming in perfect harmony. Speaking of, did we not tell you Scott Surplice’s photos were utterly amaze? Shoot him an enquiry here.
