Here at Hello May, we just love a surprise wedding! Other than walking down the aisle with her Dad, Claudia, (who had her makeup done by the incredible The Future Mrs) adds, “Our wedding was not traditional, we definitely did it our way which meant no first dance, no bridesmaids, no groomsman or cake cutting.” We’re here for it, friends. And Lauren Young was there to photograph it all. Scroll down for deets…
LITTLE LOL “About two weeks prior to the wedding I decided to grow the biggest pimple on my forehead. I was repeatedly told, ‘OMG you are so lucky this is not your wedding on the weekend that would be the worst.’ Unbeknownst to them, the engagement party was in fact a wedding. Luckily for the amazing Tanielle Jai (from The Future Mrs) worked her magic.”
THE VENUE “Rosewood Estate was a no brainer for us. It was a blank canvas with great views that complimented our style. The guests could stay the night and the biggest seller was our two pooches (Humphrey and Manfred) were allowed to join us on our special day.”
THE INSPO “We love to host dinner parties, BBQ’s or Sunday afternoon drinks. The best memories are made over a table with a belly full of wine and home-cooked food – we simply enjoy the company of our friends and family. Our wedding was no different. The daytime wedding was minimalistic, catering good food and drinks surrounded by amazing company, playing lawn games complemented by a dreamy location with spectacular views. What more could you want?”
FAVE DETAILS “Spanish Paella and atmosphere it created by the show they put on cooking the paella in massive three by one-metre pans. The guests loved to watch, and the smell was amazing. The 20 disposable cameras that were spread over the tables which made for some amazing fun and candid photos of our nearest and dearest dancing eating and celebrating.”
THE DRESS “I came across Kate Willa’s work on Instagram and her creations were beautiful. She captured everything I envisaged and sketched the perfect elegant dress. I changed after the ceremony into a beautiful pantsuit from KYHA which was warm and allowed me room to dance in.”
A WORD OF ADVICE “Get an on the day coordinator – worth every penny for a smooth running of the day we didn’t have to think or worry about anything at all. And a comfortable boogie outfit with some sneakers to get changed into are a must for the dance floor!”
STANDOUT VENDORS “Natalie Hardy (celebrant and on the day coordinator) went above and beyond. She even hand washed the entire table setting after lunch! Lauren Young (photographer) has a beautiful gentle presence that made Ryan and I feel comfortable and relaxed resulting in natural beautiful images that we will cherish forever. The Eaglets and Blue Vale Films.”
