This fun-loving pair agreed that getting married meant throwing a once in a lifetime party and we can’t get enough. “There are too few moments in life when everyone you love is in the same room– you just can’t beat that feeling,” said the bride, who wore a gown she designed with her sister, along with hair and makeup by our friends at The Future Mrs. Scroll down for all the photos by Lara Hotz and don’t miss the video at the bottom by some of our faves at Light Noise Films

THE VENUE “As soon as we saw the The Red Box, we knew we had found the place for our reception. It’s a theatre space built by Arts NSW in Lilyfield and we were the first people to have a wedding there which made it all the more special. We felt like we had discovered a hidden gem. Walking inside and looking up at the space, we loved that it was an empty shell to play with. It also a provided a great contrast to our ceremony – held in the ethereal Pine Grove, Centennial Parklands.

THE VIBE “We wanted our guests to feel like they were getting restaurant style service. We love good food, wine and music. We love Porteño (who wouldn’t with chefs like Elvis and Ben, and a sommelier like Joe). We love Furnace And The Fundamentals– in our opinion, the greatest mash-up cover band on the planet! So when we paired those two forces we knew we had a winning formula for fun. And The Red Box was the perfect platform.”

FAVOURITE DETAIL “One of the things we were most excited about was our ‘Cocktails in a Can’ for cocktail and canapé hour. Via Porteño, we had custom tin can cocktails made for us with the labels ‘Mitt-Tinny’ and ‘Zo-Groni’ (based on our favourite cocktails – Martinis and Negronis and a play on our nicknames, Mitty and Zo). Rather than a cake we also had ‘The Mittys Wedding Cake in a Can’- delicious chocolate toffee pudding made in tin cans for guests to take home. The cocktails and cakes were batched, cooked and canned by Continental Deli Bar Bistro. The terrible puns are from us!”

THE DRESS “I designed my dress with my sister Rachelle. Then the incredible Ziolkowski and my sister (and Maid of Honour) Rachelle made the dress and train. We had the beading custom made and it was appliquéd on the dress. It took hours of work to pull it together.  Despite months of discussion, there were still a few late-night last minute sessions to get it ready in the home stretch! I loved it.”

REFERENCES “Many hours of research. We wanted to use local vendors as much as possible. We researched pretty much every night until we had our perfect line up. We became well acquainted with blogs (hello, Hello May!). All of our vendors were incredibly helpful from the get-go, which really made the planning experience leading up to the day a great one.”

STANDOUT VENDORSPorteño were more than we could have hoped for- people are still raving about the food and Joe’s brilliant wine pairings. The Vintage Stylus set the tone for the reception and Adam was so helpful in the lead up to wedding. Sarah from The Future Mrs who did my hair and makeup was fantastic. Lara Hotz our photographer was incredible, both in the lead up to the wedding and on the day. She captured amazing moments for us, as did Bree from Light Noise Films. Furnace And The Fundamentals connected with everyone in the audience with their unstoppable energy. The flowers by The Make Haus were breathtaking. And the balloon installation by The Bespokery was perfect.”
