Cementing what most couples seem to have learnt from COVID’s constant messing with wedding plans, they say, “We wanted a simple, stylish and timeless look. We obviously weren’t going down the traditional route – it was more important to us that we could get together with our closest family and friends and have a laid back and enjoyable evening celebrating.”

THE VENUE “The moment we stepped foot inside Old Tower House in Perth, we knew it was perfect for us. The room we chose was the perfect size for the number of guests, a beautiful blank canvas filled with natural light and tall ceilings making the room feel spacious. The staff were friendly, helpful and approachable. We immediately felt comfortable and booked the venue that day. We consider ourselves foodies so great food was the most important thing when considering venues for our reception. For us, it was important that our guests finished the evening with a full stomach and there was no shortage of drinks flowing. Fraser’s Kings Park had a private dining room perfect for 25 people and an adjoining private alfresco terrace with spectacular views overlooking Kings Park and Perth city. Their menu featured contemporary Australian cuisine using the best seasonal produce and an extensive beverage list.
FAVE DETAILS “If we had to pick, it would be the styling and floral arrangements courtesy of our beautiful florist, Angel at Flowers & Me Perth. She listened to everything we wanted. Her attention to detail was impeccable. Throughout the night everyone commented on the arrangements and styling. Even some of our other vendors asked for her business information for future collaborations. We also really enjoyed spending the morning together, getting ready for the big day. It really calmed our nerves knowing we were experiencing everything together.”
THE DRESS “As soon as we got engaged I was on Instagram and hashtagging everything from unique dresses and modern dresses to cool dresses. When I saw the organza mini dress by Harriette Gordon, I instantly fell in love and booked my appointment with Harriette Gordon. The dress came with a belt which I opted to wear on the day as it cinched in my waist. The overall experience was really fun – I mean, who doesn’t like dressing up and trying on wedding dresses? I felt like a Barbie doll getting dressed in the most beautiful dresses.”
TAKE ON TRADITION “I [Yvonne] consider myself a very spiritual person and it’s important to me that I maintain a close connection with my culture. We focused on finding the right date for our ceremony on the lunar calendar, hence why we got married on a Wednesday!”
LITTLE LOL “Our driver Nic from Gran Tourismo was just the best! He drove us everywhere to take photos and he had a portable boom box with him, so wherever we went with the photographer, Nic would be five steps behind holding the boom box playing music so loudly! It was just the funniest thing walking around the CBD with a photographer and Nic and his music, and it definitely eased the atmosphere as Jason and I found it very awkward taking pictures with people staring at us.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “I loved ALL our vendors! Our day wouldn’t have happened if it wasn’t for them. We are so grateful and lucky that everyone who was a part of our day was just so outgoing and friendly and was willing to help out in every way possible. All our vendors got along and exchanged details for future collaborations as well!”
