High school sweethearts Viv and Simon were picnicking under the Eiffel Tower in 2013, when Simon set up their camera so the pair could indulge in some silly selfies, “as the camera was going off, he knelt beside me said £I can’t imagine my life without you, will you marry me? and over my shoulder pulled out the ring! My response was ‘is this a joke?!’…I just couldn’t believe it!”
Three years later and the couple did eventually tie the knot, and boy, what a gorgeous gathering they put together! Held at The Barn in Wallington, Victoria, this pair knew from jump street what kind of wedding they wanted: rustic, laid-back and creative with lots of DIY touches.
“As soon as I saw photos of The Barn I knew we had to get married there. This was the first venue we visited together. When we drove up the dirt road and saw The Barn through the gates, I got butterflies,” says Viv, who looked stunning in her Suzanne Harward gown.
“The first dress I tried on was immediately perfect. When I walked out of the change room, it was such a surreal moment to be wearing a wedding dress and seeing myself in the full-length mirror. The girls in the store and my best friend just stared and gasped,” the bride remembers, adding that Daniel Milligan was undeniably a standout supplier.
“Daniel Milligan our photographer was just another guest to us! He made us feel so comfortable and we didn’t feel like we were posing for photos at all. We were laughing amongst ourselves and felt like Daniel was just a friend taking photos. He was a good sport when the boys made him take a swig from Simon’s whiskey cam!”
