One part of this couple is a brand manager for an alcohol company, the other works at Google. They were living in New York at the time of the engagement, so they planned the majority of this beautiful wedding from their couch and to say we were pretty damn impressed is an understatement. They enlisted the help of a few of our fave Directory vendors, of course, photographer Janneke Storm, cinematographer The Barefoot Bride and hair and makeup extraordinaires, The Future Mrs and together, along with a bunch of other vendors and 150 guests, they celebrated their wedding. THE VENUE “We didn’t get to see Bendooley Estate before we booked the venue, although we watched many wedding videos! What drew us to it was the amazing gardens, gorgeous reception area with the many books and the fact that they had great food. The food was very important to us!”

THE VIBE “Classic, sophisticated, yet a bit rustic. We opted for a black-tie wedding. We wanted it to be a formal occasion, however we didn’t want to go overboard as it was still a “country” wedding!”

THE DRESS “After close to 10 months of searching New York bridal shops, I finally came across Rime Arodaky on Instagram. Luckily there was a supplier, The Mews Bridal New York. I visited the studio on my last week in New York before moving back to Australia. I wasn’t 100% and went back to Sydney. It was then I realised that it was THE dress. I loved the lace and the flowing sleeves with the stunning deep v neckline. I luckily had a very good friend who was coming from New York back to Sydney before the wedding and took the dress on the plane. Needless to say, the dress was an experience!”

REFERENCES “Lots of Instagram scrolling! Hello May was the first magazine my sister in law gave me as a gift on the day we got engaged. I went to One Fine Day Wedding Fair when I got back to Sydney. I also took lots of referrals from friends and family.”

LITTLE LOL “It was gorgeous blue skies for the week leading up to the wedding. Then the day of the wedding the heavens decided to open, the temperature dropped, and the wind and rain arrived. Luckily the ceremony could still be outside. We then quickly moved everyone in by the fire! We then spend a few more hours outside… at that point, I realised I should have taken the weather forecast more seriously and invested in a fur coat!”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Janneke Storm, my photographer. She was a superstar with us. It was so cold, but she convinced us that we would regret it if we didn’t spend the time to take photos outside with just us two. Her photos are spectacular and natural. Bendooley Estate, especially Kelly, was amazing. Extremely professional and accommodating to a nervous bride! My hair and make-up artists, Missy (Brides By Missy) and Rachel Montgomery were fantastic. Nothing was a problem. Lastly, our celebrant, Pip Best (of In Light).”
