Sometimes we see a wedding that truly highlights the couple’s personalities, every detail speaks of their quirks, loves, passions and vibes. And that certainly rings true for Vic and Coz. “We both love all things tropical and fell madly in love with Mexico, because of its amazing food, culture and colourful charm, says the bride, who wore a Grace Loves Lace gown. Our house is filled with cacti, pineapple and framed Frida Kahlo prints, we both have pineapple tattoos and we eat tacos weekly (if not more)!” You’re not alone on the Taco’s guys! Scroll down for every detail, captured by photographer and HM Directory Vendor, Elsa Campbell

THE VENUE “We found Cactus Country by accident when they liked a photo I had posted on Instagram from Mexico and thought it must have been a page from overseas… Then we realised it was only two hours away from where we lived and the rest is history!”

DIY “The list really is endless so we’ll just mention our fav projects. I made the pompom garland for the arch and attached leftover pompom’s to my shoes to add that personal flair. Colin made ‘I love you like Kanye loves Kanye’ coasters, place cards, invitations, save the dates, wine labels and ‘pin the tail’ games. We also used a Polaroid ‘snap, stick, sign’ station instead of a photo booth, along with a guest book made with scrapbook paper for guests to slap their hilarious pics in. There’s plenty more to name like hoarding a dozen of empty Tequila bottles for 12 months+ but let’s leave it at that. Haha.”

THE DRESS “I was super indecisive when searching for a dress! Although there were dresses I thought were amazing, I never found something that was ‘The One’, and sort of began to think that maybe not every bride thought that about their dress anyway. Then Grace Loves Lace dropped their Elixir range six months out from our wedding date. My summer staple is off the shoulder tops and dresses, and the style combined with the amazing lace pattern made it an easy choice. I have never ever felt more beautiful than I did on our wedding day. I was super comfy, felt beautiful and sexy, but importantly my dress also had enough stretch to fill up on tacos and margaritas, and get low on the dance floor!”

REFERENCESPinchos Catering are family friends who have catered for a number of other events we have been to and their food is always A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Bang Event Co. are also local girls, and we love their clean, modern styling vibes! Super cool! Our photographer Elsa Campbell was recommended to us by another photographer and we loved her work when we saw it. Kate Haynes from One Day in March is also a local girl, and we’ve seen her work at countless weddings and events prior to ours, so there was absolutely no doubt when it came to deciding who would do our flowers!”

LITTLE LOL “Navigating through a cactus farm without injury was quite the task. Poor Elsa, our photographer, had to learn the hard way that shooting amongst cacti comes with a high risk – within 10 minutes of shooting us after our ceremony she was bleeding! She then end up with a cactus stuck to her foot at one point, she was fine, but gosh it was hilarious! The dance floor was also hilarious. If someone wasn’t doing the limbo or the worm, another was on someone’s shoulders with a bottle of tequila in their hand. It was wild. Our friend Dom definitely set the floor on fire with his knee slides and disco moves, or as we like to say Dom’s hips don’t lie!”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Where do we start, we had a dream team! Farrah at Pinchos Catering absolutely nailed the food, it was so so delicious and so authentic which we loved. Kate at One Day in March went absolutely above and beyond to bring our floral vision to life, and the finished product was just incredible! I cried when I saw my bouquet, it was just everything I had in my head and more! To be able to handball an idea to someone and trust that they will bring your idea to life is scary, particularly for a wedding, but she made the process so easy and absolutely nailed it. Elsa Campbell was just a dream to work with. We were both daunted by the idea of posing for photos and she made it such a fun, enjoyable experience! We couldn’t stop laughing the entire time we were with her and she captured that in our photos too.”
