After it rained cats and dogs on the day Lee planned to propose to Vicky you’d think Mother Nature would owe them some decent weather on their wedding day. But apparently not.
Lee tells us ” The proposal didn’t go quite to plan and I now know if I have been planning something for a little while I should always have a plan B. So on the intended day of my proposal it was horrendous weather with gale force winds and lots of rain. I arranged for a sea plane to pick us up at Rose Bay and fly us to Jonahs in Whale Beach for a lovely lunch and then for the plane to drop off back in Sydney harbour, where we would go for a walk around the botanical gardens and I would propose at Mrs Macquarie’s chair at sunset. And we would then go to the ballet at the opera house.”
Lee goes on to say “Heres what actually happened? The plane couldn’t go so we went into the city for a high tea and a few drinks where all the time I was looking for a lovely spot to get dowjn on one knee but it was raining too hard we had to get taxis everywhere with no chances. We had a lovely meal and a few drinks and went to the ballet and I ended up waiting until we got home an put on some nice music Angus and Julia Stone’s’ The Wedding Song and I proposed down on one knee while vics was on the sofa. Not how it was planned but lovely none the less, then Vicky got so excited we had to Skype everyone in the Uk to tell them then news.
“Rain seems to follow us around, it rained the day of the proposal, the day of the wedding but both days were amazing. Vickys bridesmaid Faye wrote in our wedding card Life not about dodging the storm, it’s about learning to dance in the rain’. I love that quote, its so true.”
Vicky and Lee’s beautifully relaxed, albeit damp, day was photographed by Hello May fave Luke Going on the grounds of The Figtree in Byron bay. We are huge fans of Luke’s work and you can check out more from him here and here.
Lee and Vicy can’t rave enough about the staff at Figtree telling us “After the ceremony had finished were signing the register under a huge garden umbrella and I looked down to see a man knelt down behind the chairs holding the umbrella up, it was hilarious. That guys was an absolute legend, all the staff at the Fig Tree were amazing, we couldn’t have picked a better venue.”
