Once upon a time, in the land of Tinder, Tegan and Will caught each other’s eye. “We are still yet to agree on who ‘super liked’ who.” The couple of seven years got hitched at Melbourne’s eclectic hotspot, Rupert on Rupert. The conditions at this lively love-fest were prime for partying, with stellar celebrant Nat Sproal setting the good vibes in motion and One More Song DJs delivering the tunes. The bride was blushing head to toe in a Couture + Love + Madness gown that stole the show, pared with Bared Footwear shoes.

Not long after their nups, the newlyweds set off on a new adventure, moving to Mid-West America, which made their big day an extra meaningful occasion, “It made our wedding even more special, being the last time we would see a lot of our friends before relocating.”

Don’t be shy; scroll on to see all the highlights from Tegan and Will’s inner-city soiree, chronicled by legendary lens lady Lucy Spartalis of She Takes Pictures He Makes Films.

THE VENUE “I had seen [Rupert on Rupert] on Instagram prior to getting engaged. The moment we stepped inside the venue we knew it was perfect. We loved the greenery, back bar and mood of the space. It was an added bonus that the team at Rupert on Rupert went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and in amazing care; we did not have to worry about a thing – they had it all sorted.”

THE DRESS “I knew from the start that I wanted to do something different. I am incredibly passionate about colour and couldn’t envision wearing white. I saw the ‘Rose’ gown from Couture + Love + Madness online and fell in love (even more so than with Will *wink*). The style and colour were perfect for me. Mum, my sister, and I travelled to Adelaide to meet Cristina from Couture + Love + Madness, and she was an absolute dream to work with. During this visit, we found the bridesmaids’ dresses that would tie in with the theme. I also decided to have my niece, Peyton, in a dress that matched the girls’.”

REFERENCES “Finding Rupert on Rupert was easy. Our photographer, Lucy, had captured our friend’s wedding a few years earlier, and we were blown away by her work, so we did not have to look further than that. From there, we looked at vendors recommended by both Rupert on Rupert and Lucy, knowing they would be fantastic. I also got the Hello May Wedding Planning Guide and the last three months of magazines, which helped A LOT for inspiration.”

WE’RE GLAD WE… “Did first look drinks with the wedding party. Our decision to get together before the ceremony was three-fold. We couldn’t comprehend waiting all day to see each other, we wanted to surprise the wedding party and savour that moment together, and we wanted to get some of our photos taken pre-ceremony. So we got the wedding party together at Plug Nickel for pre-wedding cocktails. It was an incredibly special moment for the first look, and it took the nerves out of walking down the aisle. We also had our Beagiler pup, Alonso, get ready with Will the morning of the wedding, which meant that our photographer Lucy was able to capture some amazingly cute photos of them in matching bowties.”

STANDOUT VENDORSLucy from She Takes Pictures He Makes Films was so amazing, helping us capture exactly what we wanted from the photos and keeping us on track. She even withstood the groomsmans’ multiple sporting poses while getting ready! And the team at Rupert on Rupert were incredible and took any stress out of the day for us. Mali and her team were so accommodating and helped make our day very special.”
