When a loved up couple with their very own bespoke lifestyle embroidery brand choose to plan a wedding, you know it’s going to be a good one. Garun proposed to Tayler on the ancient shores of Lake Superior with a ring nestled on a bed of moss. Shot by Folk & Follow, Tayler & Garun’s intimate ceremony and reception took place in the Redwood groves scattered on the serene space of The Land. Taking inspiration from the vibrant colours of Punjabi culture the couple’s special day wove together their love of nature, botanicals and crystals. Magical? We think so! Picture a colour scheme of rich scarlets, marigold and emerald. Heck! You don’t even have to picture it, scroll down for all the pics and more details…
THE VENUE “It was really important for us to feel grounded and not have a rushed wedding day. Unsurprisingly, we both feel our auric ease percolating most when we’re in nature. We fell in love with the magic of The Land, a sanctuary retreat centre that sprawls into the Redwood groves of the Mendocino hills.”
THE VIBE “ We were able to tell our story in a way that entwined with the character of The Land’s natural landscape with the cultural narratives from Garun’s heritage. We were inspired by the colour and light of the Punjabi culture. We knew we wanted to seamlessly weave that with healing crystals, and botanicals to match the tapestry of The Land’s cleansing energy.”
FAVOURITE DETAILS “Our favours were wildflower seed packets as well as a Rainbow Fluorite crystal which cleanses and purifies the heart chakra by aligning your mind with the true desires of the heart and opens and stimulates the third eye chakra, clearing the way for spiritual expansion.”
DIY… “We purchased two large buckets of marigolds at the flower markets. The morning of the wedding we had the groomsman break apart the flowers and they were thrown by guests as we walked down the aisle. The photos captured were my favourites.”
THE DRESS “I was randomly looking online at Stone Cold Fox and found some beauties that I thought might be good options for the rehearsal dinner. For $300 each I purchased two dresses and thought I’d at least try them. When they arrived, one in particular felt like it could be THE ONE. At only $300 I was surprised but decided to go with it and I couldn’t be happier with my decision. Advice to the girl who wants to have fun, breath and move at her wedding, take these things into account when choosing. I loved one that was so cool, but I wouldn’t be able to throw my hands up dancing, NO go! Go with what you feel beautiful in, but also comfortable. It’s a really important day and you don’t want to be physically uncomfortable!”
