All these summer celebrations lately have us in the mood for something sparkly. So, today, we’re throwing it back to Taryn and Tom’s unforgettable and iridescent ‘I do’s, which initially featured in our Real Wedding Special Volume 9.
Taryn and Tom’s love story has always affectionately orbited around the Melbourne suburb of Brunswick. It’s where they had their first date, their first kiss, bought their first home together, where they got engaged, and now, where they wed. “The Hall Brunswick was the perfect location for our day and the obvious choice,” they explain. “We didn’t look anywhere else and locked it in immediately!”
Browsing past wedding pics taken at the venue, the couple stumbled upon their photographer, Dee from Finder Seeker, who captured the party impeccably. “[I] immediately vibed and contacted her,” shares the bride. Keeping things local, they also chose Melbourne’s Corky Saint Clair for their wedding rings – great call.
Read on for the newlywed’s advice, their favourite details, and enough sequins to bedazzle the whole of Brunswick.
Sparkly Wedding at The Hall Brunswick
“ I knew I wanted the vibe to be more of a party than a formal occasion. I wanted to wear something sequin-y/sparkly for my wedding dress, so I asked guests to wear something sparkly or ‘your best party fit’ to match!”
Playful Neon and Modern Audio Guestbook
“The styling and details for the day were quite minimal as The venue was already pretty perfect. I got Banging Hangins to come in to add a sparkly touch and bought a couple of neon signs to hang around the venue. And that was it! My favourite detail was the Off The Hook audio guest book where guests were able to leave a message. It was the absolute best listening to all the lovely (and funny) messages a few weeks later when you got the post wedding blues.”
DIY Wedding Dress:
“When I ordered my wedding dress I accidentally got sent the wrong colour-way and there was no time to have the dress re-made and sent. So instead of being sad about it, I went to the craft store, bought $100 worth of sequins, and re-sequinned half of the dress. It took two weeks of late nights, and I don’t think I’ll ever get the glitter out of my carpet, but the end result was worth it.”
A Sentimental Tribute Hidden in the Groom’s Suit
“Tom’s Dad sadly passed away last year, so we wanted to make sure he was included in the day, even though he couldn’t be there. When Tom was consulting with Reigner, he asked them to design a graphic of his dad to include on the suit. Tom’s Dad (Russell) was a mad bombers fan and avid red wine drinker. Russell is pictured on Tom’s jacket riding his trademark red scooter, holding a Bombers scarf, and a glass of red wine.”
LOVE FOR FINDER SEEKER PHOTOGRAPHY
“All of my vendors were incredibly supportive and made me feel at ease on the day. Special mention to Dee from Finder Seeker who was amazing with helping me plan my day and find my vendors. I don’t think I could have gotten through the day without her.”
Top Tips from the Bride: “Do It Your Way”
“Don’t feel pressured to follow the traditional wedding script – do it your way! It’s your day just do what makes you happy! Also make sure you schedule some time for the two of you to be alone and have a quiet moment (and have something to eat!) the day goes by so fast and before you know it it’s over!”
