Sophie and Harry have really made our inner child happy. On the advice of an old wives’ tale, the duo planted a couple of sausages in the backyard (yep. More on that below), and what bloomed was one radically unique, wow-worthy wed.
Picturesque Mornington Peninsula is where the pair of seven years exchanged vows, on a private family property that Harry, an architect by trade, actually had a hand in creating. How many people can say that they designed their own wedding venue?!

LITTLE LOL “Our British neighbours told us an old wives’ tale – that you should bury a cooked sausage in the garden at the venue to ensure good weather. A few weeks out, the weather forecast predicted rain. Weirdly, Harry’s mother had just done a sausage-making course, so we decided to plant TWO sausages in the garden. Lo and behold, the weather for the wedding ended up being 38 degrees!”
THE VENUE “The venue was Harry’s most recently completed project where his mother, Jennifer and her partner, Ramon live. It was the perfect place for us to host and a place that we can reminisce in years to come.”
FAVE DETAILS “Two of our best friends mixed vinyls during the ‘drinks’ chapter of the proceedings. It set the tone for the fun to begin. Cowboy Hour – Harry really wanted a cowboy-themed wedding, but I (Sophie) vetoed this idea. We compromised on one hour of cowboy music, which involved all the guests wearing cowboy hats. First Dance – We disappeared from the reception to swap cowboy boots for sneakers. We re-entered the reception on a ride-on mower while Da Funk by Daft Punk blasted on the sound system. We then did a 3-minute choreographed dance to It’s All Coming Back To Me Now by Celine Dion. This was an over-the-top, over-exaggerated, cheesy dance – think Kate Bush music video! Costume Rack – We have collected a really extensive costume collection throughout our relationship. Every time our friends come over for dinner, we all end up in costumes. This had to be a part of our wedding! So, once the dance floor kicked off, we brought out the costume rack. Everyone went nuts!”
MEMORABLE MOMENT “After the ceremony, our photographer Jackson took [us] and the bridal party on an adventure to take some photos. We had pre-arranged for one of the bridesmaids, Priya, to give the group a ‘half-time speech’ prior to entering the reception. We were blown away by Priya breaking out into a freestyle rap about us. Jackson captured the moment perfectly in one of his photos! All the speeches were amazing, particularly Genevieve’s, another of Sophie’s Bridesmaids, who reworked Le Freak by Le Chic into a musical story about us.”
WE’RE GLAD WE… “Incorporated some fun ideas that reflected our silliness. This made the day personal and really unique for our guests.”
