These two cute thangs shared their first kiss on stage during a performance at uni, and it must have been pretty darn good because, nine years later, Sophia and Leo made it as official as it gets, tying the knot surrounded by frothy smoke bush and clouds upon clouds of pastel baby’s breath. Aiming to capture every aspect of their long-awaited day, Soph and Leo enlisted the help of Heartbreak Hotel Photo Booth, for those all-important groovy guest snaps, and Rolan John Photo for the profesh shots. DIY “We actually sourced 140+ quotes about love! We had these printed on little cards and handed them out to each of our guests as they entered the Chapel. One of our dearest friends who is an artist sketched a little doodle of the day on the other side of the card – it was very cute! My mum also beaded my entire veil. It’s so special to me and I felt empowered wearing something she embellished by hand down the aisle.”

A TOUCH OF TRADITION “I am Greek/Macedonian and Leo is Chilean, so that definitely played a huge role in our day. Neither of us is religious but having a beautiful Chapel at Stones meant we could still honour my orthodox background. I particularly wanted kantila burning frankincense and myrrh as guests arrived, traditionally burnt in Greek churches. As for the reception, we went back to back classics from the Zorba to salsa, to the queca, a traditional Chilean dance done in pairs.”

A WORD OF ADVICE “Get your venue locked in then have lots of fun planning everything else! I think the venue is key for the overall vibe and logistics and once that’s taken care of you have time to think of all the little details that will make it most special for the two of you.”

WE’RE GLAD WE… “A lot of people told us ‘at the end of the day you won’t be thinking about the napkins and the stationary so don’t worry if you don’t get it all done’ but, to be honest, I did think about it and still do! We hired pastel pink linen napkins from Event Art which was a lovely touch and my mum and I sourced chiffon table runners that made the tables look light and dreamy – I’m glad we thought of the little things!”

STANDOUT VENDORSCecilia Fox were incredible. They just got it. They were a dream to work with and I fully trusted them. I think you have to with vendors who are creative, they are artists and they know what they are doing. Chloe, in particular, was a dream to work with. I cried so much when I saw her and she dropped off my bouquet. I even e-mailed her at 7 am the next day to thank her! Heartbreak Hotel Photo Booth were amazing too – everything was just so well taken care of. Sarah, who ran the booth, was gorgeous and lots of fun on the day. I’m so glad we splashed out on that.”
