Shannon and Christian loved the idea of an autumn wedding at Stones of the Yarra Valley, one of the region’s most popular venues. Little did they know, after locking in the 4th of November 2014…they were actually expecting! £After celebrating our engagement, booking our wedding and starting to plan everything, we received the fab news that we were just over 14 weeks pregnant and our baby was due, wait for it…ON OUR WEDDING DAY! Yep, November 4th. So we put the wedding off until March 2016 and started to plan for a baby instead!
Blown away by the location’s beautiful barn and vineyard, it was definitely worth the wait. £We didn’t have a theme for the wedding, just a vibe I guess – relaxed, family and friends, good food and wine…oh, and fun colourful blooms! We wanted a weekend surrounded by all of our loved ones, where everyone could just enjoy themselves and make a weekend of it, says Shannon, admitting that it’s tough to name just one favourite memory.
£EVERYTHING!!!! Honestly from start to finish, I don’t think I could wipe the smile off my face…from walking down the aisle (actually I cried the whole way down…happy tears!), getting our photos taken, doing our first dance, listening to the speeches and eating the delicious food, dancing the night away with our friends and family. I honestly couldn’t pick a favourite, she tells us, emphasising how amazing the work of She Takes Pictures He Makes Films was.
£I have to say, the night we received our photos and video from Lucy and Al was one of my favourite nights ever! We sat up watching the video over and over while pouring over all the moments Lucy had captured. The night flies by so quickly, it’s a bit of a blur and you forget so many of the moments but having the unbelievable film and photos let us relive the night and gave us the opportunity to really take it all in and appreciate just how amazing it was.
The pics and video weren’t the only amazing parts of the day – can you believe that this talented mumma made her own gown?! £I made the decision to make my own dress…while being a full time mum to a one-year-old boy and doing most of the sewing by hand, on the body, an hour here and an hour there while he was asleep. A few months later and about two weeks before the wedding – it was done! And it looked amazing, too.
