We don’t know if it’s the epic colourful streamer situation, or simply the warmest smiles on these two, but it looks like one seriously fun-filled wedding. Plus, we love their get together story – “We were both wing person for our good mates, and we ended up hooking up,” – and their meaning of marriage (read below). Oh and Elsa Campbell was also the lens lady behind the delightful pics, which made us (and the couple) very happy. So scroll down for all…
LITTLE LOL “We got locked out of our apartment the day before the wedding – which meant we couldn’t get you our outfits, flowers, shoes, nothing. So that was a little spice 24 hours before the big day.”
THE VENUE “Rupert was one of the first venues we looked at. As soon as we walked in, we knew we had to make it happen. We’re suckers for natural light and indoor plants, so it really was love at first sight. Then we met with Mali a week later, and we were signed, sealed, in!”
THE INSPO “We always wanted an intimate ceremony followed by a party. We weren’t sure how that would manifest, especially coming out of COVID lockdowns, but we essentially wanted great food, delicious booze and dancing into the wee hours. If we were to theme it, it would be ‘modern classic with a hint of drama’ – Leigh’s stunning blue velvet jacket, my oversized bow and our killer backdrop.”
FAVE DETAILS “We wanted to make sure there were as many little touches of our dorkiness across the day – so from creating playlists that were played between the ceremony and reception to the wording on our wedding posters and invites that came from our favourite songs. Just little things that would make our friends and family smile, giggle or even roll their eyes at these two dags who finally got hitched.”
DIY “I designed our wedding invites, wedding poster booklet and all printed signage used on the day. The wedding poster was the most fun – it was an A5 booklet that folded out to an A3 poster. The booklet listed the food and drinks along with our Acknowledgement of Country and the poster featured our ‘origin’ story with a few nods and thank yous to our nearest and dearest.”
MARRIAGE MEANS… “We are all a little weird, and life’s a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “Mali from Rupert is an absolute legend, working with Elsa Campbell really was wonderful. She did an amazing job of capturing the more candid, ‘cute’ moments of the day, not just of Leigh and I, but also of our guests. Sarah from Bangin Hangins is a creative genius and Paul Bonadio (aka A Stand-up Celebrant) delivered a really touching and personal ceremony. There were laughs and tears and that’s all we could ask for.”
