After 13 years together these two lovers decided to tie the knot after a romantic trip away at Mt Quincan Treehouse Resorts. With a little one on the way, Sarah opted to design her very own gorgeous gown to accommodate her growing bump. Scroll down for all the details and the sweetest pics as captured by the talented Tyler Brown…
THE VENUE “Avalon Beach holds a special place in Julian’s heart and was the first beach in WA that truly felt like home to me. Julian grew up with his sister and cousins and family going to this beach and it was also his Dad’s favourite beach as well. Once we decided on the state that we were going to get married in, either WA or QLD, it was an easy decision on where we wanted to be.”
THE VIBE “We are pretty chilled people and we were originally planning on eloping and then having a party to say “Woohoo we’re married!” but once we told some family members that we were engaged their reactions made us realise that maybe a small intimate wedding might be nicer for everyone. The main thing we kept saying to each other is that we really wanted a day that was “us” and a lot of that has come through in the styling of our wedding.”
FAVOURITE DETAILS “Our grazing table was probably the highlight of the styling hands down! The girls [Whisky and Brown Sugar] absolutely nailed it!!! My flowers were better than the Pinterest dreams I had and this exceeded our expectations more than I can elaborate on. As you can see from the photos they thought of everything, but they also got our vibe from the very beginning which was awesome considering all of our organisation was done via email and skype up until the week before when we got to meet everyone.
THE DRESS “My dress was designed by a million conflicting Pinterest dreams! I found a lovely local lady, Tracy Skalecki, that had been recommended to me and because I am always changing my mind I probably needed some fine-tuning. Also, when we were organising the wedding in the early stages we already knew we were pregnant and we were over the moon! This also meant that no matter what dress I bought it would have needed alterations so it made more sense to get it made from scratch. We took into account how I wanted the dress to feel while I was wearing it and I wanted a design that was pretty and feminine that I could style up my way and make it more “me” with my accessories. I was getting the last fitting the night before we flew to WA for the wedding just in case our little bambino had a growth spurt!”
WE’RE GLAD WE…”spent the time with Tyler before the ceremony getting our photos taken. These hours were like gold to us. We are also so happy that we stuck to our guns on the food choice. We wanted a huge grazing table with all the delicious and visually appealing foods that you can imagine. One half of my family is Sicilian and one half of Julians’ is German/Romanian so we were never going to be able to please everyone!”
STANDOUT VENDORS “When it comes to vendors the big three must be named: Tyler Brown Photography, Rebecca Roberts and Whisky and Brown Sugar. Honestly, it felt like we had known all of them for years and I genuinely feel like we have built lasting friendships with them all. They really understood us and what we are about and were chilled and relaxed like we are and it just worked. We can comfortably say that there is no way that we would have had the absolutely magical day that we did if it wasn’t for them. Can’t wait to get back to the West Coast and catch up with everyone!”
