It looked to be a clear, sunny morning and Troy, one of our handsome grooms from issue eight, was pumped. In a letter to his bride he wrote, £Dear Rox, wow the day is finally here. I am sweating bullets by this stage. I am so excited. All our planning has come to this day. Nothing can stop us having the most amazing day of our lives.
As it turned out, he was right. Their wedding, according to Roxy, was a huge hit. £We got engaged in Noosa and couldn’t have thought of a better place to have our wedding. Being able to share our favourite place with family and friends and have a holiday together at the same time! It took us quite a while to find Yandina Station but it was everything we could have ever asked for!
Established in 1853, the 220 acre luxury estate had more than enough room to accommodate all of Roxy and Troy’s decorative ideas, including their gorgeous floral arbour, festoon lights and DIY hay bale photo booth. £We did all of the styling ourselves for the reception, says Roxy, describing their theme as a little bit boho, a little bit rustic.
£My Stepdad made an entry sign with our names on it and we handmade our bomboniere! We also had Crown + Anchor’ (a dice game for those who love a friendly gamble) run by our cousin Clinton at the cocktail hour. We wanted something a bit different to oversize croquet and bocche and this really reflected both of our families love of punting!
No one however, was offering to bet on who the best dressed was. Wearing a long-sleeved, Grace Loves Lace gown Roxy tells us, £I flew up to the Gold Coast to try it on with my Mum and I knew as soon as I put it on it was the one. I really wanted a sophisticated look in the front, covered and long sleeves but with a little part-ay going on in the back”, says Roxy who had a whole team of great vendors on board.
£Being able to work with people like Sandi from Willow Bud Florist made the process really enjoyable. We would also recommend hiring Shane Shepherd as your photographer over and over! From the minute we found him the whole process was just so relaxing and carefree… No doubt their naked sponge cake with buttercream and caramel drizzle didn’t disappoint them either. It sounds (and looks) positively delish!
