“Intimate, whimsical, private, bright and unique” was the brief for Renee and Adam’s Perth wedding and we’re pretty sure you’ll agree, they totally nailed the vibe, with a little help from some standout vendors. In fact, from the looks of this here big day, it’s hard to believe the bride doesn’t particularly like weddings! (Her words, not ours!) “I’ve been called the anti-bride many a time,” she confesses – but nevertheless, she planned a banger of a day!

With a vintage-inspired custom-made gown for Renee and M.J. Bale suits all round for Tom and the guys, plus their sweet labradoodle Lucy by their sides, these two kicked off their journey as Mrs and Mr in style – all captured by the epic photography team Sammy & Tom.

THE VENUE “It was important to us to do something different than the typical spots around Perth and we knew instantly when we walked in that Perth City Farm was ‘it’. We knew we wanted a garden as well that was really private and that everything was on the same property to avoid that awkward few hours waiting around in between.”

CUTE CUSTOM “I thought it would be a gorgeous idea for one of the readings to ask long-time married family members and people we admired to give their most valuable piece of wedding advice for staying married, which was then read out by Adam’s two beautiful sisters during the ceremony. We also surprised our mums by asking them to be our witnesses – we didn’t tell them before and then our cheeky celebrant asked them to come up. They lost the plot they were so overwhelmed and felt so special.”

THE DRESS “Anti-bride here was absolutely not interested in the whole trying on lots of dresses with everyone you’ve ever known there. I did extensive research on who would be the ‘no frills’ type person for me, and I eventually ended up in the amazingly capable hands of Paula from Paula & Jo, who within an hour of meeting me had helped me draw up my vintage-inspired dress, picked the Italian silk, and off we went.”

A WORD OF ADVICE “Go big, go different, go fun. Break the mould. Do something that people will remember. The things people loved the most about ours were the little details – the white fluffy slippers we had for all the girls, the baklava from our favourite place (The Greek Plate), the cake made of the most divine French cheeses from European Foods Wholesalers, rather than the same old sponge cake, etc. It is YOUR day – not your mum’s, not your auntie’s, no-one but yours.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Truly and utterly all of them. We wrote all of our amazing people little cards just to express how enormously overwhelmed we were that these people put their hearts and souls into our day.”

If you’re in the market for some swish suits on the day, we definitely rec hitting up M.J. Bale over on our directory. They’re utter guns when it comes to delish dapper suiting.
