Despite sending out their RSVP’s without checking the cut off date, (“only allowing our guests a handful of days opportunity to respond,” says the bride, Oops)! Penny and Matt’s wedding clocked up a whopping 240 of their nearest and dearest – and man did they put on a show stopping shindig for them! “The backdrop of our ceremony was gigantic granite boulders and the reception was the rugged Australian countryside. Some of our overseas guests had never been to £the outback. I think they were pretty blown-away by the Australian landscape,” the bride mentioned, adding that it was thanks to the hospitality of friends that they were able to hold their big day at a stunning private property on the boarder of NSW and QLD.
A truely DIY’s affair, Penny tells us her mum took on the challenge of creating over 260 unique wedding favours (intricately hand painted plates), “it took her over one year! We receive photos of our guests using them now – takes us right back.” Alongside the mother of the bride’s incredible efforts, there were hand stitched table runners, a ‘cheese’ cake creation, hand crafted flower girl outfits, hay bales, signage…the list goes on! “It made the day that much more special being able to look around and see everyone’s handiwork on display!”
After struggling to find the perfect gown, Penny says she discovered a Made With Love frock that worked beautifully with their Australiana theme. “It was covered in dirt above my knees and had holes all through it afterwards! Worth every penny!”
Whilst listening to the speeches was a favourite moment for the bride, she did admit it was the dancing on the tables later in the evening that stood out with lasting effect thanks to the photographic evidence captured by none other than HM faves, Trent & Jessie, “we must mention our photographers – they were a true standout and certainly went above and beyond!”
For this fun loving couple, marriage means ‘the search is over’!”It’s being able to comfortably annoy the one you love for the rest of your lives,” Penny tells us, and hey, we’re down for that!
