We asked this couple the first question we ask all our couples, and the answer was as relatable as they come! “Seven years official… Eight years if you count the first year of the ‘what are we doing? Where’s this going?’ phase.” Proving you should push through, they got married in this cute as heck garden wedding with Madeline Kate  behind the lens. Scroll down for all the details…

THE INSPOPlayful, cheeky, vintage, summer cocktail blend. A vibe that tickled all the senses with plenty of live music and surprises. We wanted to take our guests on an adventure unveiling one space at a time as we transitioned from the ceremony to the garden party, moving onto the barn and into the speakeasy before ending up in the main hall to get our boogie on.”

THE VENUEA local artist was building a cabinet for Ollie’s Mum and Step-dad Terry who suggested they come and check out the property where her studio was based. Alongside artist studios, were a few air BnBs, a 100-year-old apple shed, a speakeasy bar and some of the most luscious gardens. I had just one essential item for our wedding day (other than Ollie of course) being a gramophone and the property already had one on-site! As soon as they sent through the photos, we knew it was a definite yes before even stepping foot on the property.”

FAVE DETAILSDr Benjafield! The old truck refurbished into a bar that served one of the most praised features of our wedding – homemade whisky sours – much to the credit of Ollie’s Mum who must’ve juiced around 300 lemons. [And] something I had always imagined hearing for my future wedding was rattling cans as we drove away from our ceremony. When we settled on a one-stop-shop venue, our maid of honour, Sophie, hung old Tasmanian brewery cans along the archway in the garden so we still heard the cans clank together as our guests walked through.”

THE DRESSWhile in London, I came across a boutique called Fairy Goth Mother, who stocked only 50s style wedding dresses. It was the first and last boutique I walked into having chosen a dress of the hanger in my size which was posted right away to Australia.”

A WORD OF ADVICE “Highly recommend organising breakfast for the wedding day ‘cause we completely forgot being caught up in all the excitement. Thankfully my lovely step-mum, Kylie, came to the rescue and whipped up a cooked breakfast.”

WE’RE GLAD WE… “Put a lot of trust in our vendors. We knew they were the experts at what they do. It worked really well both ways as they had the freedom to unleash their creativity and we were able to sit back and watch the magic happen which they were thankful for too.”
