THE VENUE “We knew we wanted to share our vows under a gumtree – and the location to be peaceful and in the heart of nature. Finding a special gumtree to share our vows was an adventure. Creeping around the Grampians for days… Wayne and Jane thought we were sussing the property out for a robbery, only to find out we were just a carefree couple looking for our special spot to get married! They welcomed us in like we were family and drove us around the paddocks on a little tractor to choose our gumtree. It felt like we were meant to meet that day and for us to find this spot in the world to say our I do’s. It was magic.”
THE INSPO “We are a couple who feel most at home outdoors in nature, with that sweet taste of freedom and adventure. We always knew we would like to create a day that embraced that feeling – carefree and intimate. Hiking is a huge part of our life and so it was inevitable we wanted to be amongst the mountains on our wedding day.”
FAVE DETAILS “The evening set up back at the gumtree had us snacking and sipping under the stars and moon with just nature sounds as our live band. Elle and Sophie, of Premium Picnics and Simson and Co. had us grazing on the best spread in town.”
THE DRESS “I never wanted the dress to be a focal point for the day but knew I wanted to wear something I could move freely in (without showing up in pjs or hiking gear). I ordered two dresses online and choose the one that felt simple, light and romantic. I sang, danced and laughed all day without ever needing to pull at my dress. Focusing on how we felt over how we looked was the best decision we made.”
MEMORABLE MOMENTS “The personal speeches from our parents during the ceremony made us feel like they were standing right next to us cheering us on, and drenching us with love. The video from my two nieces in white dresses. It was a full song and dance routine to make me feel special on my wedding morning. Our first dance was in the middle of the road leading to the epic Grampian Mountains. We felt so wild and free, dancing and singing like we were the only two people on the planet.”
A WORD OF ADVICE “Your dress, shoes and hair will get messy and dirty if your having a good time. So don’t worry if you forgot the iron. If you are both standing there on the day, sharing your vows and hearts, that’s all that matters.”
