Talk about a talented bunch! Brendan a musician and Nicole, a teacher and freelance illustrator have made a life for themselves surrounded by creative folk – all of whom willingly lent a helping hand when it came time to prepare for their day of days. “We were blown away by peoples generosity and joy for us”. says Nicole, who was particularly thankful to Brendan’s mum for making all the bridesmaids dresses.
Along the way however, they found some new friends too including photographer Daniel Ferris – a storyteller from Terrigal whose images of Nicole and Brendan’s wedding instantly captured our hearts and souls (and hopefully yours now, too). They also met with the lovely people from East Coast Wildflowers to create Nicole’s delicate hair piece and beautiful bouquet.
One of Brendan’s favourite details however (second to seeing Nicole for the first time) was their arfternoon “cheese and jazz time”. Brendan tells us, “a good friend set up an amazing table filled to the brim with gourmet cheeses and antipasto… Tim and Matt played jazz outside with Evan Harris (saxophone) sitting in for a song or two. There were fires and picnic blankets and friends busting out dance moves on the verandah!”
Of her dress Nicole says “my dress is from the 1930’s – hand made lace, found at the Sydney Antique Centre from Lou Murray Vintage. It is breathtaking. I found it only a couple months before our wedding by pure chance – while catching up with a friend in Sydney. Lou had it packed away and brought it out when we got talking about the upcoming marriage (and lack of dress!). I bought it then and there.”
We love that it was a day that truly reflected Nicole and Brendan as a couple. “We are inspired by people who make beautiful things, who do life slowly; by trees and by our creator God.”
