Despite some last minute cancellations of their vendors, Nicky and Sam kept their cool in the lead-up to their big day. “In hindsight it just put into perspective that the small things of the wedding isn’t what counts.”
With hopes of finding a Melbourne venue with industrial architecture, it made sense for the couple to begin looking at warehouse venues straight away. After looking at only two or three warehouses, Nicky and Sam b came across 64 Sutton and knew it was ‘the one’.
“We immediately knew that this was going to be the venue as it was big and would allow us to have both the ceremony and the reception in one place. The venue had lots of character, polished concrete floors and it had a long street frontage, so allowed a lot of natural light,” the newlyweds explain, adding they didn’t have a particular theme in mind for the day aside from lovely green foliage and fluffy white flowers by Mary Mary Studio.
“What we really wanted was a simple, relaxed wedding that included as many family and friends in the day as possible and a really fun dance floor,” says Nicky, who wore a show-stopping gown by Jane Hill.
“I absolutely loved everything about it. I had seen the gold dress before and knew I wanted to try it on and wear something that was a little different to a traditional wedding dress and something that Sam wouldn’t expect. I had a day with family and bridesmaids where I tried on lots of different styles of dresses, but none were quiet as fun as the gold dress.”
While Nicky and Sam admit they have a tonne of favourite moments (from walking down the aisle to the very sweaty dance floor), they say that their wedding was more about celebrating and consolidating their relationship in front of all their favourite people more than anything else – and thankfully Beck Rocchi Photography was there to capture it all.
Beck Rocchi is a super star and I just loved her enthusiasm and all the photos she took. She made taking photos in 42 degree heat fun and that is a hard thing to achieve with a large family and bridal party.”
