Weddings this glorious don’t come without their moments, dear readers. Leading up to Nandy & Chris’ big day Chris broke his ankle at his bucks (“wrestling a gigantic Urkranian, weightlifting friend”), Nandy’s mum broke her toe and had to sport a moon boot and Nandy herself ended up in hospital after her first-ever bee sting. Despite the mishaps, the day itself was pretty darn perf. Scroll down for the goods, as captured by Anna Turner…
THE VENUE “We loved Rupert on Rupert from a while back when we had an impromptu lunch there whilst exploring on our bikes. We had pretty much agreed that we would love to get married there if we could. I looked at one other venue but we both knew Rupert was what we wanted.”
FAVOURITE DETAILS “All of the plant life around, which was already in the venue and rearranged by the hosts, made it feel like a little forest in the city which was important to Chris being a former landscaper and outdoorsy person.”
THE DRESS “I was very lucky to be squeezed in for an appointment with Sonia [Capellazzo Couture]. She saw me 11 weeks before the wedding and made my dress happen. I had around six fittings in the end. The process was really positive and each appointment a little more of the gown was created. She’s extremely talented and a delight to be around, especially through such a busy and sometimes stressful time.”
A TOUCH OF TRADITION “As my cultural heritage is Egyptian, my mum read a prayer during our ceremony in Arabic from a bible that belonged to my great-grandfather. This was a little ode to our background that my sister had included in her wedding, which we loved. Chris’ mum is a beautiful poet and shared a poem she had written for us on the day too which was so lovely.”
A WORD OF ADVICE “Keep it simple and have the bucks way ahead of the wedding day in case of a mishap!”
STANDOUT VENDORS “Honestly, we were so lucky. Everyone involved in our wedding was amazing. Anna was delightful to share the day with and so many people commented on her lovely approach. Rupert on Rupert were brilliant, super warm, professional and there was so much great feedback on the food. Vince, an old favourite of mine who played at my 21st many years earlier, rocked it.”
This dream day was first published in our 2019 Real Wedding Special. If you would like to flick through this bumper ish then pop on to our online store where you can still nab yourself a copy (and a bonus one!) after you are done here, of course….
