Gippsland Wedding at Mewburn Park Homestead

For Nadine and Link, Mewburn Park Homestead was an easy pick. But, when it came to narrowing down a theme, the pair were pulled in a few different directions. “We started with a Woodstock-inspired vibe,” the couple explained. “But when Link fell for the Peaky Blinders look, we knew we had to pivot.” Thankfully Nadine and Link had Lauren from ETC. Wedding Styling in their corner, who was able to create a “wild mash-up” of vibes. “Peaky Blinders/The Gentlemen meets Bridgerton, with just a hint of Woodstock boho. Sounds crazy, but it was perfection and [ETC] absolutely nailed it!”

Along with vintage-esque inspo, you’ll spy lots of Hello May favourites in Link and Nadine’s day. Like Bec + Bridge, Bared Footwear, legendary Love By Colour Captured behind the camera, and Karen Willis Holmes, who engineered the bride’s custom bodice/skirt combo, and matching pearl-adorned party pants.

“I (Nadine) first visited Mewburn Park when I was 19, attending one of their fabulous events. I told my best friend then that it was where I wanted to get married. Nearly 10 years later, I brought Link to see it, hoping he’d fall in love with the venue as much as I had. The moment he saw the old stables, he was completely sold . . . . Honestly, I can’t fault the venue; everywhere you look, Mewburn Park is absolutely spectacular.”

DREAMY DECOR

“My favourite detail was definitely the flowers. I wanted it to feel like I was walking down the aisle through a meadow, and it was the most ethereal experience. The colours were bursting like fireworks vibrant, lush, and full of life and they truly brought the whole day to life. I also absolutely loved the table settings. I never would have thought to use blush velvet on a table, and it was completely drool-worthy. Lauren from ETC is a magician; the way she brings everything together is just next level.”

SKIRT FOR THE CEREMONY, PANTS FOR THE PARTY

“My dress was from Karen Willis Holmes. It was actually a three-piece set they custom made for me. I had always envisioned wearing pants on my wedding day, but I also knew my very traditional family and my husband would love to see me in a dress. When I shared this with the team, they worked their magic and brought my vision to life. The bodice and skirt were separate pieces, so just before the reception I swapped the skirt for pants. My seamstress was phenomenal, she even hand-stitched pearl beading onto the pants to make them extra special.”

“My sister and I went straight to the newsagency when I got engaged and bought Hello May Magazine and the Wedding Planning Guide! From there I was able to find most of my vendors, if any were unavailable they were incredible at helping and recommending others!”
