With how fabulously this all came together, you’d never guess that these guys didn’t work with a theme! “We just did whatever made us happy,” they tell us. “If we liked something, we bought it and it all just ended up coming together nicely.”
THE VENUE “When we got engaged, we had a discussion that we wanted our wedding to be easy and fun. My best friends gave me some Hello May magazines and I was flipping through and fell upon Audley Dance Hall. It ticked all our boxes as we would be able to have the ceremony and reception in one place, awesome food and drinks, the most breathtaking views and a bloody good hall for dancing. It was also a perfect place for us because it’s so close to home and we can easily go back for a picnic or a walk through the park and reminisce on the best day of our lives.”
FAVE DETAILS “I cannot go past the swing that my dad made us, to go on the tree next to where we were married. After our ceremony, Audley Dance Hall provided canapes and champagne on the lawn, we had Max from Max Music Collective singing and playing soft acoustic, while people mingled and had a chat. We love that there was a swing that was handmade by my dad – not only did it look magical, but our guests could actually use it and have a swing while sipping on champagne after the ceremony. It is something we will cherish forever and can hang in our backyard.”
THE DRESS “Hope X Page was the first place I went to and I only ended up going to one other place before I decided I had already tried on the dress that I wanted to wear. At the start, I found it extremely overwhelming. There were just too many options and I couldn’t tell if I liked the dress because my bridal party said it looked nice on me or if I actually liked it. I ended up going back to Hope X Page by myself to try on the dresses again and that was when I said yes to the dress – a Prea James Bridal top and Dan Jones skirt.”
COOL CUSTOM “I wore my mum’s sapphire ring, which my sister also wore at her wedding, as did my sister-in-law at her wedding, and two of my best friends at their weddings. It’s such a special ring for our family and I was so honoured to wear it on my big day. My grandma also gave me a horseshoe that I tied around my bouquet. She used it at her wedding and my sister and cousin also had it at theirs.”
WORD OF ADVICE “Try to take some time for both of you to step outside and have a moment for yourselves. The day goes so fast, so it’s nice to have a quiet moment together on your own.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “Dom from With Love Weddings and Lachie and Rose from Somethings Wild made us feel so comfortable while taking photos and made sure they caught all the action. The photos and videos have been so amazing and are more than we could have expected. Nikki, our florist from Fete De Fleur, was amazingly helpful in giving us ideas and style tips, and putting up with our constantly changing plans. She was so creative and just so lovely to work with.”
