Cameron has proven himself as a romantic with this proposal, people. “We did a little retrace of our steps on our first date, had dinner and drinks [and] then walked home,” explains the groom. “I took her to the spot we had our first kiss and proposed there.” See? Romantic, right? As was the couple’s big day, made even better by the incredible florals we’re sure you’ve noticed (Pomp and Splendour if you’re wondering), and the pics by Motta Weddings. THE VENUE “Mornington Peninsula means a lot to us. I was very keen to find a beautiful garden to get married in springtime. Butterfly Red Hill had the perfect combination of a lush garden filled with roses and wisteria overlooking a vineyard, an event space where we could have live music and an amazing, supportive team. Claire was so warm, generous and helpful right from the start. She gave us so much help through the planning stages, was just a pleasure to chat with and made the whole day run smoothly. Anyone’s wedding would be in great hands with her.”
THE INSPO “To try and have it be fun and happy the whole way through – we had a short and happy ceremony, followed by lots of drinks, music and fun stuff. We didn’t want anything too serious – which is funny because we took that very seriously in the planning.”
FAVE DEETS “The flowers were an absolute highlight [by Pomp and Splendour]. Our friends and family really pulled together to help us plan the wedding, and having everyone involved was a joy and made all the little details really meaningful. Cameron’s old friend Shelley was our celebrant, Glenn from his Bonjah touring days did the videography, and Cameron’s brother Lachlan did an incredible job as MC. My friend Jordie did my hair, Jess and Rachel helped plan, and Gareth did a reading. The boys from The Pierce Brothers (Cameron’s Groomsmen) performed and Bonjah (old friends of Cameron’s) re-united the band for us in their first gig in seven years.”
MEMORABLE MOMENT “When Cameron and The Pierce Brothers performed a cover of Asgier’s song Home. The song means a lot to me, it was a total surprise! The boys’ voices sounded beautiful, and Cameron’s playing was amazing. I was tearing up the whole time.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “Flowers – I discovered Pomp and Splendour when we were looking for venues. I was blown away by their work and went down a Google rabbit hole trying to figure out who they were. Right from the start, I felt very comfortable giving them a couple of reference images from their past work and letting them be creative with what they came up with. And they didn’t disappoint! The floral arch we were married in front of was absolutely stunning. I loved my bouquet so much that I teared up when I saw it. They were beautiful to work with, I couldn’t recommend them more.”
