Martha and Pete didn’t miss a beat when it came to orchestrating a warm, industrial-style wedding. A makeup artist, Martha says it had a lot to do with finding the right venue. “Kitchen by Mike ticked every box! It’s a beautiful warehouse space and they put together three long tables creating a communal banquet environment. We love how the menu is seasonal and locally sourced. If its not in season, they don’t use it!”
Justine of Justine Rose Events helped the venue, located in Sydney’s inner city, reach its full potential by brining in a boat load of greenery. “The lushness of the green plants worked beautifully in the space and our botanical wall she built (which was behind the bridal table) was epic. We want one at home!”
Meanwhile, Martha employed a few of her own strengths. “I decided that I would do our bouquets and also the cake. It required preparation but great to do with a bottle or two of champagne.” On the day however, she left everything up to the experts, namely photographer John Benavente who did a great job of capturing every detail of their day including Martha’s intricate, lace Lover gown.
“I got my dress from Lover from their White Magik range and it was an easy decision. It was as £bridal as I wanted to feel. I had tried on a couple of dresses in bridal boutiques and felt a bit like a fraud. I didn’t want to be princess for a day, more like £me at my best. Saying that, Peter was pretty darn surprised to see me in a white dress!”
From their ceremony (led by a close friend) to their place settings, Martha and Pete made it all seem so easy. “It takes up as much time as you let it. If you like something, book it, make it, do it and then lay it to rest”, says Martha matter-of-factly. The only thing they’d change? “I wish that we could have learnt how to warp time to make the day go by slower!”
